The pope's exorcist- Movie Review
The film "The Pope's Exorcist" claims to be based on the real-life experiences of the late Father Gabriele Amorth, who served as the head exorcist of the Diocese of Rome for 30 years. The film is backed by the non-profit production arm of the Jesuit research university Loyola Marymount, with Loyola rector Father Edward J. Siebert among its executive producers. However, the film is actually a work of fiction, inspired by Amorth's work, and follows the same demonic-possession horror film formula as "The Exorcist." The film centers on an American teen possessed by an ancient minion of Satan, and a priest called to clear up the mess. While the script adheres to expectations, Russell Crowe's portrayal of Father Amorth brings the right balance of gruff, paternalistic credibility and wry, self-mocking irony to the film. The setting, a murky, rubble-strewn Gothic playground, is splendidly imagined by production designer Alan Gilmore. The film's final showdown between good and evil is hilariously gaudy and features some churchy, borderline-camp pyrotechnics, aided by artfully dank lensing and shrieking ceremonials.

Super Mario Bros. Movie Review
Mario gearing up for action in The Super Mario Bros. Movie For all of Chris Pratt's hype about his Mario voice, though, it's merely serviceable. The movie jokes about Charles Martinet's original problematic accent (Martinet also voices two characters in the film), but Pratt's spin on it just feels like someone pretending to be a schlubby Brooklynite. That's particularly surprising since Pratt injected so much life into his Lego Movie lead.

My Review of "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves"
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is the latest blockbuster to come out in 2023. It certainly feels like movies in the theatres are back to what they were before. This movie is a ton of fun and in all the right places. Though there's a sense of familiarity about it, I could say that was part of the charm of this movie.

The Magic of Writing
Created in 2019. There are several instances in my life that I have felt magic, but nothing quite feels like the first time I fell in love. It was with a book. I would go on to love other books, other stories, but nothing compares to the first one. That feeling of wonder is impossible to recapture. It was not one of the classics, one of those books every educator seemed to hold higher than the rest. It was not one of those books people pretended was their favorite because people wanted to feel smart and stopped believing in magic as adults. This is unfortunate since all writing, no matter the type, is magical.
