Mean Girls
Mean Girls is finally released in theaters and I have some thoughts. The first of them being that the internet's top complaint is that they didn’t know that it was a musical. I am going to say this is the nicest way possible, if you didn’t know that this movie was a musical you are stupid. There was a teaser trailer and 2 longer trailers. In the teaser Renee Rapp SINGS “I am Regina George”. In both longer trailers there are AT LEAST 4 scenes of dancing. On the poster there is a treble clef in the A of Mean Girls and there is a music note ring on Regina’s finger. The only way you walked into the movie not knowing it was a musical was if you are completely brain dead.

Ranking the Films of 2023
I saw right around 50 films last year, I wanted to make sure when Oscar time came I had the most thorough picture of what could be nominated for awards as well as having a well informed opinion on what I think should win. I saw most of the Oscar nominees last year and it really made it more enjoyable to watch the award show. So here we go a full ranking of all the films I have seen this year.

My Review of "Role Play"
Role Play has recently been dropped on Prime in January of 2024. I saw the trailer to this movie and I thought it would be really fun. It had a Mr. and Mrs. Smith vibe to it but this movie couldn't be further from that. The trailer made it come off like it was going to be some comedy and it didn't really have that light hearted vibe to it.

My Review of "Game of Thrones: Season 5"
Game of Thrones: Season 5 was released back in 2015. It came off one of the best seasons yet. Just when I didn't think it would get any crazier it brings in some new characters and scenarios that would keep me intrigued as to what would happen next.

Saltburn
Okay so the internet is full of mixed reviews about Saltburn. On the one hand we have people who can’t stop raving about how awesome and brilliant it is. And on the other we have people who are saying that it is the most depraved and insane thing that they have ever seen. Now I was interested in this movie from the second I saw the trailer so we are going to go ahead and see which side is correct, or if we land somewhere in the middle. I couldn’t in good conscience put out my ranking list for the films of 2023 without watching this movie so here we go with my review of Saltburn.

Echo
Recently Disney+ dropped its latest series, Echo. As with anything new that the MCU dares to do the show was met with many complaints. But as we know the general public’s opinion on what is of quality or not means absolutely nothing to me. So I of course had to watch it myself. The series is a very bingeable 5 episodes so I did finish it in a weekend. As of right now it is being railed as the second lowest rated MCU show…at 73% audience rating. First of all that isn’t at all a bad score, second of all we need to leave 10% wiggle room for internet incels angry that women exist and another 10% for the fact that Echo isn’t an established character in the MCU. Let’s go ahead and be really honest as to why WandaVision, Loki and Falcon and the Winter Soldier are rated so high, the audience was already familiar with them as characters. The first season of Loki sucked and some of y'all seem to be forgetting that. Also the lowest rated is Secret Invasion at 53% which is still way too high. So grouping them together when there is a 20% difference is insane. So here we go with the reality of Echo.

My Review of "American Fiction"
American Fiction is a very clever comedy that came out in 2023. I didn't get to see it until recently because my area of the world finally smartened up and put it in theatres. There's been a lot of buzz about this movie but I wasn't sure what I was going to get myself into. With this day in age of big action and big bombastic situations it's nice to have a little change of pace once in a while.

REVIEW - Don’t Bet the Horse you Rode in On (Cole Brakebill)
Don’t Bet the Horse you Rode in On is a short film which was written, produced, directed by and stars only one man - Cole Brakebill. Cole, originally from New Mexico, later studied music production in Texas (the latter also being the state where this film is set and our story takes place), which evidently shows as there is a strong musical aspect to the storytelling here, as our protagonist, Morris Bellinger, a lone traveller (minus his steed) rambles through a vast and desolate landscape en route to a cattle market, his journey punctuated by interludes where he pauses to read letters from Uncle C.Y. in scarce patches of shade amid the dust and sun-baked rocks.
