The Fableman's
The Fableman’s was one of my most anticipated films of 2022, I think that the Covid lockdown did something to filmmakers and the industry as whole. We were all inside for a year and that caused an outpouring of art from authors and musicians but filmmakers were stuck. So after we were all released and allowed back into the world there was all this pent up creative energy from filmmakers and that gave us a wave of films about art and film and love. That wave gave us movies like Armageddon Time, Babylon and yes, The Fableman’s.

The Broker represents peak independent cinema, it seemed to slip through the cracks of 2022. In a year that was filled with very loud movies, The Broker slips through with a beautiful story and delicate character work that is rare to see in a world of superheroes and spies.
Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a year ago in GeeksRepresentation for Representations Sake
Something that has begun to change the scape of Hollywood is the push for representation. Both on the screen and behind the camera, on the small screen and the big screen more roles are being created for, portrayed by and written by marginalized groups. Allowing for a richer and more realistic reflection of the world around us. However some of these pushes for representation are simply bad…and they teach us that representation for representation's sake is not a good thing.
Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a year ago in GeeksRanking Films of 2022
Okay so 2022 ended up being an amazing year for movies, I’ve decided to rank them, now this list isn’t actually in any particular order. All movies with the same number rating are tied with each other. Most movies that got a half a point off because of rewatchability, that said you have to be in a very specific moon to rewatch those films and therefore they got a slightly lower ranking. Now for context the only films in history that I have ever given a 10/10 are the Lord of the Rings films (all of them), and The Princess Bride. Now all I think this list proves is that I need to raise my standards, which is really saying something because I am very specific and very judgy about my movies, so I am in fact going to be a little harsher going into 2023.

Digital HubPublished about a year ago in GeeksDebunking the Trope That “Sunlight Is the Best Disinfectant”
There is this tiring trope that happens in media. The villain has been deceiving the populace of a town, country, or galaxy for the entire runtime. It seems like they will never face justice, but then our hero steps onto a stage with evidence or leaks a hot mic recording to the public, and the villain's secret gets revealed. The crowd instantly turns on them, and the day is saved.
Alex Mell-TaylorPublished about a year ago in GeeksMy Review of "Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut"
Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut is the final Snyder cut of the Watchmen movie that came out in 2009. I think the popularity of this movie has grown since the Snyder cut of the Justice League movie. The problem is that this cut gave me mixed feelings about this movie.
Brian AnonymousPublished about a year ago in GeeksBeyond the Special Effects: A Critical Review of James Cameron's Avatar
Avatar, directed by James Cameron and released in 2009, promised to be a game-changing film with its groundbreaking special effects and visually stunning world of Pandora. The film was highly anticipated and had a huge budget, yet it ultimately fell short in its storytelling. The plot was unoriginal and predictable, with shallow, unlikeable characters. The villains, too, were stereotypical and served to reinforce racial stereotypes.

Take a look at The Last of Us, Vikings: Valhalla, and The Traitors Despite all the sorrow and doom that January brings, the 2023 version of the supposedly worst month of the year has been nothing short of remarkable in terms of the availability of new films and TV episodes to watch.
