Why Do We Quote Films?
How many times have you stood on your porch and screamed, “I’m the king of the world!” Or wandered around in the dark and uttered “I have a bad feeling about this?” How about reassuring your mopey best friend that “you aren’t dying; you just can’t think of anything better to do?”

Sometimes it’s fun to visit a dark world where creatures jump out at you and everyone’s a little mad. At other times, you’d like to fall asleep, relaxed and happy, imagining yourself enjoying a pint in the Shire and watching Gandalf’s fireworks. Here are some of the most enchanting soundtracks a fantasy-loving dreamer could possibly imagine.
Sarah QuinnPublished 7 years ago in GeeksBreaking the Spell of Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange is a titanic jerk. If I had to pick any Marvel Cinematic Universe character—including the villains—to have a latte and scone with, Stephen Strange would be between Malekith (Thor 2) and the Hulk…and that’s only because Hulk and I probably wouldn’t have much to talk about, unless he secretly likes Seinfeld.
Matt CatesPublished 7 years ago in GeeksComic Books Vs Leather Bound Hard Covers: Can GEEKS Appreciate Classic Literature?
Let’s all get real and try to face up to the plain, geeky facts: Geeks are sizzling red hot today. They’re all the cool, nerdy rage. Geeks seem to define - or perhaps elegantly redefine - much of everything these days. High tech gadgets, cool, game changing business startups and much of global pop culture all are now heavily influenced by a decidedly geeky kinda vibe. If you're a Geek, you're in exceptionally good company. You are also an appreciator of classic literature - whether you know it or not.
Will StapePublished 7 years ago in Geeks"Ferris Bueller, You're My Hero"
Through hours and hours of countless film watching, there have been very few that have stuck with me. John Hughes’ Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is high on that list, as I grew up watching it and know the script verbatim. Impacting my mindset during my time in high school and college, it has taught me to live life to its fullest, even if it means breaking a few rules.
Marina Caitlin WattsPublished 7 years ago in GeeksRomantic Comedy Movies that Break Barriers
I find it annoying to invite to a romantic comedy movie only to be met with: "Huh? Isn't that a chick-flick?" And the next thing I know, I am being re-oriented to the latest action movie and on 3D IMAX, no less.

Revel in the humor of Ralphie and his family in A Christmas Story, but if you really want to get away, take a trip on a TARDIS and watch Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol. The nice list highlights the happiness that accompanies the holidays, while offering you plenty of opportunities to escape the busy kitchen and enjoy a trip through your childhood.
Eddie WongPublished 8 years ago in GeeksBest Billiards Movies
Don't blink or you might miss that trick shot. While Tom Cruise knows how to hustle pool in the movie, The Color Of Money, it’s not often that you fall in love in a pool hall, except for when it comes to billiards movies. There never seems to be a lack of beautiful women in the celluloid world of pool halls. Perhaps cracking balls has its appeal to the fairer sex, especially when they are good with a cue. The women in these billiards films give the guy shooters a real run for the money.
Frank WhitePublished 8 years ago in GeeksCitizen Kane, 75 Years Later
1941 saw the release of Citizen Kane. Orson Welles directed, wrote, produced, and starred in the film, which is greatly criticized for its resemblance to the life of newspaper tycoon, William Randolph Hearst. The story is the quintessential American Dream, perfectly arching a rise and fall for our tragic hero, Charles Foster Kane. More than just for the classic narrative, Kane received many accolades after its release. Due to its technological advances, its interpretation of the American dream, and an emphasis on the gratuitous excess that comes along with power, Kane stands the test of time, even 75 years later.
Marina Caitlin WattsPublished 8 years ago in GeeksNaughty List of Christmas Movies
So maybe you’ve had it up to here with the sweet, happy Christmas specials and need something a little more dark and twisted (and/or slightly raunchy). Or perhaps you want to torture your relatives who have spent all day asking you when you’re going to get married and why you skipped work to see that stupid Star Wars movie. Either way, here are some non-classic Christmas classics for your viewing (dis)pleasure. From the stoners known as Harold and Kumar to the cute but vicious Gremlins, Christmas is the setting for many genres of movies. Whether it is superhero films that begin with a Christmas light-adorned home being blown up or a glimpse at an alcoholic Santa Claus, there seems to be no boundaries when it comes to the types of Christmas movies that can be on the naughty list this holiday season.
