Stephen A Smith returns to ‘General Hospital’

Things are heating up on General Hospital where Cyrus Renault is concerned and he now has a new nemesis who is an ally of Sonny Corinthos. Stephen A Smith returned to General Hospital on Thursday, reprising his role as Brick. He caught up with Sonny at Turning Woods where the mob boss had been visiting his dad Mike. Cyrus Renault was also there and Brick asked Sonny if he needed help with the drug lord. Just as Sonny had walked in to the Alzheimer’s facility, Cyrus was sitting with an older gentleman. His explanation was that he had an interest in all the Alzheimer's patient but it’s possible this man might be a relative to Renault.

Last week Curtis Ashford told Cyrus that he knew that he had been caring for someone in a certain location but gave no details. The Turning Woods patient could be that very individual and based on the age could possibly be Renault's father. It's great to see Stephen A Smith back on General Hospital as Brick. The sportscaster made his debut on the show in February 2007 as a reporter. He returned on March 31 and April 1 of 2016, as Brick when Sonny called him to wire Paul Hornsby’s office so Sonny could listen to Paul’s conversations with Carlos Rivera. Brick showed up again on August 18 to keep tabs on Julian Jerome for Sonny.

He came back to Port Charles again in March of 2017 to help find out who really killed Morgan Corinthos.On September 26, he helped Sonny trace the mysterious call from Russia when Patient 6 called on Sonny’s private line. Brick returned on October 5 with an update for Sonny Carly wanted him to research Nelle who was Michael’s new girlfriend. Brick is next seen on October 16. He tells Sonny that his phones have been tapped by someone using sophisticated equipment. Sonny wants Brick to find out who is tapping his phones. Brick used his tech Davy on September 6, 2018 to fix Mike Corbin's cell phone.Brick returns on February 1, 2019 to help Sonny find his son Dante who had gone missing and on July 5, he was told he needed to forge records that would say Dev Cerci is a member of Sonny's family. On July 10, Brick showed up to bring Dev the forged documents. He also has the biggest crush on Carly which and Sonny finds amusing. On Thursday Brick did not forget to ask about the lovely wife and kids and Sonny laughed as he always does.

Brick asked about Mike and told Sonny that he had a scotch waiting with his name on it any time he was ready for it. Brick does not stick around long but he makes his presence known. He is very protective of Sonny and his eyes were cold as steel on Thursday when he was looking at Cyrus. He held his own with the new head of General Hospital and now has a new enemy. When Cyrus was later talking to his sidekick he more or less said that Brick needed to be dealt with. Stephen A Smith fans will be hoping that his character is not eliminated so that he can return again.

The actor and sport’s caster has been a fan of General Hospital for a long time and was elated to obtain a role where he interacts with Maurice Bernard’s character, Sonny Corinthos. Brick may be needed right now as Cyrus keeps pushing for total control. On Thursday he had two of his henchmen attack Brando because he refused to work for Renault. It’s looking now like Mike’s nephew is not involved with Cyrus but trying to hold his own without involving Sonny. Jason, Sam, and Spinelli were watching from a computer as Brando was being jumped because they had just installed surveillance in his garage.

Sam was convinced Brando was on the payroll of Mr. Renault and had sabotaged Jason's bike. On Thursday Cyrus sent his men to convince Mr. Corbin that he alone could make Brando's legal troubles go away. Brando said no and while Jason, Sam, and Spinelli, were watching the tape, the men attacked. The trio is rushing to the garage, and previews for Friday show Sam at General Hospital asking if Brando will be OK. Sonny will not like any of this and will enlist everyone he can get to vanquish this new enemy. Jordan, Taggert, Jason, Curtis, and Laura all desire in their own ways to rid Port Charles of Cyrus. Perhaps Brick May also help so stay tuned.
