South Korean K-pop singer Park Bo-ram: Cause of death controversy

Rumors of suicide are running rampant but an autopsy proves them wrong.

South Korean singer is dead at 30

It is always tragic news to hear that a young, talented entertainer has left this earth, and today that news has come before us once again. K-pop singer Park Bo-ram passed away on Thursday afternoon, at age 30, according to her agency, Xanadu Entertainment.

“We are here to share sorrowful and heartbreaking news. Park Bo Ram suddenly passed away late at night on April 11,” the Xanadu statement said. “All of the artists and executives at Xanadu Entertainment are deeply mourning the deceased with great sadness. It is even more heartbreaking that we have to tell you this sudden news to all of the fans who support Park Bo Ram. The funeral will be held after consulting with the bereaved family. Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the deceased so she may rest in peace.”

Park Bo-ram was at a private gathering

The Namyangju, Seoul police department filed an incident report on April 12 stating that Bo-ram was at a private gathering on the evening of April 11 at the house of a friend along with two other friends. She is said to have excused herself and went to the washroom at approximately 9:55 p.m. and was gone for an extended time.

Her friends went looking for her and "found her slouched over the sink, unconscious." They performed CPR until the paramedics arrived in an ambulance. Park Bo-ram was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m. at Hanyang University Guri Hospital.

K-pop stars deal with enormous pressure

No cause of death has been given, but Park Bo-ram is one of several young K-pop stars who have passed away in recent years. In 2023 K-pop singer Moonbin reportedly took his own life. Rumors ran rampant on the Internet that the singer had died by suicide. An autopsy ruled out suicide or homicide and will give the official cause of death to her family.

In 2023 Idiva stated that seven K-pop stars had left us too soon due to enormous pressure and online bullying. Deadline reports that K-pop and other forms of entertainment are subject to a strict regimen that places them under enormous and restrictive pressure.

Park Bo-ram early history

Park Bo-ram finished as the Top 8 on SuperStar K2 in 2010. The following year, in 2011, she recorded the song "Always" for SBS's 49 Days soundtrack. In March 2014, she appeared in Hong Dae Kwang's "Thank You My Love" music video.

On August 7, 2014, Bo-ram debuted the single "Beautiful" featuring rapper Zico. Three days later, on August 10, she made her official stage debut at SBS Inkigayo.

More recent accomplishments

On January 22, 2015, Park released the soundtrack song "Falling" for the drama Hyde Jekyll, Me.[unreliable source] On April 23, Park's first mini album Celepretty was released along with a lead single of the same title.Her single reached number 7 on Gaon.

She released several more singles over the years before signing with Xanadu in December 2021. She won an Artist of the Year award at the 4th Gaon Chart K-POP Awards and was nominated for an Mnet Asian Music Award, Melon Music Award, and Golden Disk Award. Her last single was thsi year, 2024, titled I Hope.

The South Korean singer was born on March 1, 1994 in Chuncheon. Her father died on October 3, 2010, and her mother passed away on October 3, 2o17. In April 2018 it was reported that she broke up with singer and actor Seo In-guk because they had grown apart.
