Jon and Caddy call it quits

Daytime fans enjoy keeping up with their favorite actors but the news is not always positive. Recently, soap vets Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain announced on social media that they are ending their marriage after ten years.

“Cady and Jon here,” they shared in a joint Instagram post. “We are taking this opportunity to make a short statement about our relationship status. It may be obvious to some based on our posts that we’ve taken some time apart. After serious consideration, we have decided that our goals have been taking us in different directions and to end our marriage. We remain friends and wish each other every happiness,” they continued. “As people who work in the public eye, it can be difficult to have a private life. Regardless, we ask for your kind consideration in this matter.”

"Kind consideration' is a nice way of asking fans not to diss them on social media or ask prying questions, but those who watch the soaps can be brutal when they choose to. Hopefully, the wishes of Lindstrom and McClain will be honored by those who enjoy their work.

Soap fans did not see this coming

Many fans have been commenting saying they are in disbelief, but life happens to actors just like regular people. Sometimes soap fans see the glamour and glitz, the photos of couples in public smiling and holding hands, and assume all is well. Then, when news like this is announced, it comes as a shock.

In recent years, some soap fans have become expert, at realizing when couples have gone their separate ways before any announcement is made. This happened with Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra Y&R) and Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos GH).

Soap fans knew what was happening with Y&R cast

Fans also picked up on Mark Grossman's (Adam Newman Y&R) breakups after he dated two castmates, Sharon Case (Sharon Newman) and Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra). Fans noticed that the actors had removed photos of each other and suspected trouble and were accurate in each situation. McClain and Lindstrom obviously did not do anything to tip fans off which is why there is shock by some.

Cady McClain and Jon Lindstrom additional facts

On daytime, McClain is best known for her role as Dixie Cooney on All My Children. She has also played Jennifer Horton on Days of Our Lives, Rosanna Cabot on As the World Turns, and Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless.

Lindstrom has portrayed Kevin Collins and his evil twin Ryan Chamberlain on General Hospital, and Kevin has also appeared on sister soap Port Charles. Both actors have had roles in primetime and in film. Lindstrom was previously married to Eileen Davidson who portrays Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless. This was McClain's first marriage.

Did Jon and Caddy ever work together?

There is no record of either of them having children or having ever worked together on a soap, film, or television show. Both are writers who have published books and directors. Lindstrom is also a producer. McClain's last acting role is listed as Patty Ryan in an episode of Law & Order Special Victims Unit in 2023.

Her tenure on Days of Our Lives is unclear as Melissa Reeves will return as Jennifer in November for the tribute episode to Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes).

Best of luck to Caddy McClain and Jon Lindstrom in their future endeavors. Daytime fans should be on the lookout for updates related to any new projects they are involved in and find out if McClain will return to DOOL.
