Rupaul's Drag Race: Season 13.

You're on your laptop or perhaps, you are flicking through the channels on your smart TV. It’s 7 pm. You hover over to the app with the black square and the red N inside.

After a click or press of the button, up pops a collection of shows (depending on your Wi-Fi speed); from comedies to psychological thrillers. And then, you see the Bingeworthy section. [Laughs evilly] ha ha haaa...

You decide to watch one episode of your selected show.

The episode was amazing! So...what now?

You check the time and scan through your remaining workload.

"Do i have enough time?" you might ask yourself.

Staring at the screen for a minute or two, you read the synopsis of the next episode. Contemplating the consequences should you decide to watch episode 2?

You press play - number 2 it is.

Who doesn't love a good 'ol binge, eh? I can't blame ya.

My binge-watching of Drag Race came around before i became an avid user of Netflix. I had been watching the show on my television set on the Logo channel (before the show became mainstream).

RuPaul's Drag Race: Season 13.

(Yes...I had to take this photo using my phone because there were no images of Drag Race on Splash...like none.)

I stumbled upon Drag Race by chance. I was flicking through the Sky channels searching for

something to watch. I stopped, then i saw the jewels, the colours, the garments...everything! The queens were absolutely gorge!

"Wow!" I said in my mind.

They look better than a lot of the women that i would see on my daily whereabouts.

Season 1 was playing at the time (often referred to as the forgotten season). The queens have to compete in a series of mini and maxi-challenges. A one-year supply of cosmetics from Anastasia Beverly Hills and a cash prize are awarded to the winner of the season. I carried on my guilty pleasure on Netflix - now watching season 13. It is so much fun to watch! You get to see such unprecedented levels of creativity flow around the workroom and out of your screen. And of course....the drama...

On an episode of Drag Race (in particular season 12, episode 10) Drag Race superfans were invited onto the show for a makeover. One of the superfans and her husband described drag in one simple sentence,

"Drag brings joy."

She summed it up to an absolute tea.

Aside from the magnificent make-up, fabulous wigs, and striking silhouettes, there is another side; the emotional side. The queens share their unique stories and the journey they embarked on to become the queens they are today. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the fantasy that we can sometimes forget about their stories.

In addition, it is inspiring to watch RuPaul herself over the years. She has massively influenced drag culture. And thanks to her, it's now become an integral part of popular culture. A few days ago, I watched an interview of RuPaul with Vanity Fair. She explained the view of the ego and how we are all one. Ru also went on talk about feeling like an outsider, and that everyone really does feel like an outsider. And she's right in my opinion. But anywho that's just my opinion. An opinion is not a fact.

Over decades and still, to this very day, discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community is still very profound. There are still many countries in the world today where being gay, lesbian, transgender, gender non-conforming, and so forth is illegal and not accepted. In some countries, LGBTQ+ people will face imprisonment and/or possibly death by the authority or civilians even.

I find it astonishing that in this day, and age such beliefs still exist.  The most terrifying aspect is that people will go to extreme lengths to justify or protect beliefs and do not hesitate to cause harm to others along the way.

What all people who are anti-LGBTQ+ fail to realise is that they have something in common with all members of the LGBTQ+ community - being human. We are all human at the end of the day. Regardless of one's race, sexual orientation, sex, gender, age, disability, religion, culture, and so on, each and every one of us lives the human experience.

Not all of us will see eye to eye all the time, and that's normal. However, it is important to be respectful of each other, irrespective of one's walk of life.

All in all, if you want fashion, fantasy, stories, and tea, then i highly recommend RuPaul's Drag Race. [Sips tea].
