Roger Howarth returned as Austin on 'General Hospital'

One mystery has been solved on GENERAL HOSPITAL but now there are more questions. Spoilers had teased that Roger Howarth would return as a new character and would be in some state of not fully dressed. On Thursday, he turned up in the woods where Maxie went into labor, announcing he was a doctor and delivered her baby. The only thing viewers know at this point is that his name is Austin.

This miracle man might not be the savior that he seems to be as Friday's preview indicates there may be problems. Austin will be holding baby Lu inside of a knapsack but she will not be crying. Maxie will ask why her child is making no sound then wonder if Austin was sent by Peter. GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers still do not know where nurse Chloe was hiding Maxie as she waited for Peter. It's possible that he might not make it as he is lying at the bottom of a stairwell at GH.

The evidence suggests that Valentin may have pushed him down in order to keep him from fleeing. With Peter hurt, there is no way he can obtain more of the antidote for Chase so perhaps someone else did the deed. Peter is bleeding profusely but it's not clear if he will live or die. In the meantime, Brook Lynn is desperate to get to Maxie so she can take possession of the baby. Right now it seems as if non of the plans that were made are going to work out.

The question on viewers' minds now is regarding the identity of Austin. This new character is definitely nothing like Franco and actually seems sort of nerdy. His voice was softer and had a differnt tone and his hair was fixed in a style that Franco did not use. He was obviously hiking shirtless and only wearing a pair of shorts and a pair of socks and boots. Will Austin turn out to be a new doctor at GENERAL HOSPITAL and does his being in the woods indicate that Maxie is close to Port Charles?

There is a lot going on right now in Port Chuck and GENERAL HOSPITAL fans want to know if Austin is a good guy or a bad guy? His just happening to be in the woods is reminiscent of Obrecht assisting Nelle when she gave birth to Wiley in the woods. Maxie did not mention his looking like Franco so perhaps the writers are not going to play up this angle. Maxie cannot remain in the woods so if Austin is there to help he will have to call 911 and get her to a hospital. Unless some miracle occurs there seems to be no way for Brook Lynn and Maxie to carry out their scheme.

A number of GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers are saying they think it's cruel to trick Valentin in this manner. Perhaps it's all about to hit the fan and the storyline can move along. Fans will recall that Maxie bonded with Peter after he assisted her in giving birth to baby James in the great outdoors. Perhaps history will repeat itself and Dr. Austin might be a new love interest for Ms. Jones. Spoilers indicate that Brook Lynn will be awaiting a call from Maxie on Friday but it's not clear if she receives it or not.
