Hello geeks! We've all been on the edge of our seats for the past week, brimming with excitement, expectations and predictions. It's time now for our episode review of The Mandalorian Season 3 finale, 'The Return'! A quick reminder though – this review contains major spoilers. So, if you're not up to date, save this video, go watch the episode, and then come back. You've been warned!

First, let's talk about how the weighty character moments and spectacular sequences have intertwined in this episode. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have truly played a fantastic hand in betting on Bo-Katan and the retaking of Mandalore. They've developed Grogu into the future bridge between the Jedi and Mandalorian cultures. But…

Poor Din Djarin was somewhat in the background until this final episode. Despite a slightly uneven ride through the season, this finale felt like a proper Star Wars conclusion with all the right notes.

This episode titled ‘The Return’ had some twists, and it seemed to hint more towards the return of IG-11 or the Mandalorians to Mandalore, than resolving the mystery of 'The Spies'. And, where's Doctor Pershing?

As our heroes regroup on Mandalore, we get the spectacle we've been waiting for. Starship battles, dramatic duels, armies clashing... It's all here and it's an amped up version of the first season finale! It's a testament to how far our characters have come, and a fitting end to Moff Gideon's threat.

Interestingly, this season was lighter on the Star Wars cameos. The narrative felt more focused on The Mandalorian itself, even with the recycling of elements from the cancelled Rangers of the New Republic spinoff. A bold move, but it paid off!

R5-D4, the little droid who could, makes an epic return as Din's sidekick. His valiant efforts, reminiscent of A New Hope, and Din's amazing combat moves are among the many things we adored about this season finale.

And the Gideon's cloning program reveal... was it a big surprise? Maybe, maybe not. But we finally understand why Grogu was so crucial to Gideon's research, giving another strong nod to storylines from the Legends canon.

The climactic battle on Mandalore was a spectacle! Bo-Katan charging with the Darksaber, Armorer showcasing some serious melee combat moves... Pure Star Wars magic! And Din’s duel with Gideon, tense, packed with action, and full of surprises.

In between the madness, there was a peaceful moment. Bo-Katan got a surreal look at the untouched beauty of Mandalore. A much-needed breather before the final onslaught, and a glimpse into a hopeful future.

The touching resolution of Din and Grogu's father-son arc, the introduction of Din Grogu the Mandalorian, and the mythosaur’s spiritual presence, made this season feel complete. A sense of peace after the storm, and a beautiful way to close this chapter.

Bo-Katan’s journey to rule Mandalore is far from over, and we can’t wait to see where her storyline goes next.

Finally, Din and Grogu get a well-deserved break and some new possibilities. Will Din return to bounty hunting? And let’s not forget our beloved IG-11, who is back and even replaces Gina Carano as the marshal of Nevarro.

The Mandalorian Season 3, while not perfect, was a rich journey into Mandalorian culture and their post-Empire diaspora. It managed to maintain the 'adventure of the week' feeling, and that's no small feat.
