Parry Shen dishes on Brad's incarceration and the death of Jerry Stiller

Actor Parry Shen was born on June 26, 1973. His first major acting role came when he was cast in the movie Better Luck Tomorrow as Ben Manibag, the leading character. He also starred in another Asian American film, titled Surrogate Valentine. Shen has also been featured in Victor Crowley, and the horror films Hatchet, Hatchet II, and Hatchet III. The soap vet had a recurring role as Tyler Li in the television series Tru Calling and has portrayed lab tech Brad Cooper on General Hospital, since 2013.

Parry Shen recently addressed his character’s current situation on Twitter. He shared with fans that Brad has been in jail for 60 days and showed a doll that was named for his character. General Hospital is still showing new episodes but there has been no indication yet as to when Brad's dire situation will be resolved. It could be sooner than viewers think, however, based on current happenings on the ABC daytime drama. While Mr. Cooper is locked up, several people who know the truth about his plight are using the information for their own purposes. His best friend Britt Westborne returned to Port Charles, a few weeks bacj, just long enough to tell Julian Jerome that Brad had confided in her. Britta slept with Julian, visited her mom who was also in jail then abruptly left town.

Obrecht delivered Nelle’s baby in the woods and knows that Brad did not switch the children. Robert Scorpio recently had her transferred to another prison and she will he off screen for a while. Nelle overheard Brook Lynn accusing Julian of tampering with the brakes on Brads car to try to kill him and may now use this information to gain custody of her son. Michael married Willow on Tuesday in order to have leverage in court. Nelle found out and now she is desperate to do something to counter this new wrinkle. Julian has a criminal past and would not make a good husband so it’s not clear how Nelle will take advantage of the situation. She had also been close to Brad, but now is lying that he initiated the baby swap. Obrecht, Nelle, Britta, Julian, and Brook Lynn are all willing to allow Brad to languish in prison while each is only concerned with saving their own hide.

The focus on General Hospital right now seems to be on Nelle and Michael, who said "I do" on Tuesday. Soaps She Knows spoilers tease that Ms. Benson had something big up her sleeve for the custody hearing. It could be a spouse of her own or something else. Perhaps she will snitch on Julian which will get Brook Lynn in trouble. Whatever she plans she is still going to try to throw Brad under the bus. Britt is no longer in Genoa City and probably had no desire to incriminate her mother so she is out of the picture. Obrecht’s knowledge might come in handy at some point but won’t help in the immediate future. General Hospital viewers are becoming restless and want to see this storyline over and done. Some fans even want Michael and Willow to fall in love and raise Wiley.

Lucas has not been shown on General Hospital in a while either. Viewers are wondering about the fate of his marriage and when Brad will get out of jail. There is even a hash tag going around titled Freebrad# Obrecht can confirm that Nelle is the one who initiated the baby switch so there may be a way for her to divulge this information. Robert is trying to take down Peter who framed Lisel so all of these loose ends are connected. Viewers grew weary of waiting for Michael to find out that Wiley was his son. Now they want to see Nelle punished for her crimes but right now she might be winning. Whatever her secret weapon is will surely affect the outcome of the custody hearing. Meanwhile Brad is just sitting in jail, seemingly forgotten by the world.

Parry Shen also mentioned his brief role on The King of Queens and working with Jerry Stiller who recently passed. Prior to General Hospital he portrayed a stock clerk on the CBS sitcom. He says Stiller is the reason he retained the part and that he enjoyed working with the comic legend. Shen was born in the borough of Queens in New York City and attended the University at Buffalo. He is of Chinese descent and speaks Cantonese. His father is from Shanghai and his mother is from Hong Kong. Parry has been married to his wife Kim since 2002. One thing that may give loyal fans some comfort is that Brad cannot languish in Pentonville forever. Something will have to take place that will resolve this messy and complicated situation he is in.
