My Big, Unpopular Opinions
... a birthday article...
Well, it's my birthday and so, it's my time to give some more of my unsocilited opinions about things - especially opinions nobody asked for. From the fact that I don't like fruit to the movies I think are underrated, from my hatred of croissants all the way to why I'm not a huge fan of religion being taught in schools. Here's some of my biggest unpopular opinions for my birthday, I hope you enjoy them!
My Big, Unpopular Opinions
From me, on my birthday...
Custard should be illegal
Anything that involves custard is simply horrifying. If you grew up in England there's a high chance you had that terrible dessert of cake and custard at school (and if you're a millennial then they probably tested out a whole range of terrifying colours - including luminous green - for that custard). There's something about the custard fiasco that scared me straight out of it and I tried my best to avoid eating it since. The texture is horrid, the taste is wrong - it simply is not food. I don't know what it is about custard, but everything about it is just disgusting. It tastes like it doesn't want to be liquid. I think about that a lot.
LXG was a great film, you're all just mean
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was a staple film when I was younger and I've seen it so many times. Unfortunately, everyone talks shit about that movie, even some of the actors hated it. Apart from being technically terrible and the story having about as many holes as a sponge, the film is fun and watchable. Yes, it is a fantastic movie and it is tons of fun to watch - especially when you've read all the books that the characters are from. It might be ridiculous and not entirely accurate, but at least there's some enjoyment in it. Please let me enjoy things.
Whipped Cream is one of the foods I'm going to meet in hell
I am absolutely convinced that anyone who says that whipped cream is nice is lying to me. There's nothing nice about spraying air-induced cream on to anything. Yogurt is a different story - that can taste nice on things but whipped cream is basically the milk-based equivalent to a croissant. There's a needless amount of air in a food which already doesn't taste too good. I'm not apologising for this one at all. There is something deeply repulsive about eating whipped cream.
I'm not a Leo DiCaprio fan
Yeah, I don't feel a thing watching that man overact. It's almost exhausting to watch. I'm sorry if you are a fan and you enjoy his acting - I can only enjoy the film if he's a secondary character. Take Gangs of New York for example. I really enjoy that film - but I genuinely think Leo could've been swapped out for just about any blonde actor of his age. The draw of the movie really was Sir Daniel Day-Lewis. I'm sorry, I'm sure he's a nice bloke, but Leo just doesn't do anything for me when it comes to his acting. I've seen several of his films and he genuinely makes me feel nothing.
People who like Marshmallows, I have to ask: WTF?
How can you like eating a marshmallow? It is a big, squeezy mess that gets trapped in your mouth and doesn't even taste good. It is like biting into a pillow or food that doesn't want to be eaten. The texture is vomit-inducing and the food itself is too sweet. Like candyfloss, there's something deeply repulsive about eating marshmallows and it gets ever so slightly worse when you start heating them up. When they become hot and melted, they also turn into the texture of PVA glue and it is honestly horrid. It is simply grim. Why do people eat these? I don't know.
Conclusion
I hope you have enjoyed five big unpopular opinions of mine. What are some of your unpopular opinions? Do you dislike custard? Are you disgusted by any particular foods or drinks? I could go on and on about how I hate hot fruit and so, all fruit pie and crumble (or even cobbler) is a simple 'no' for me. There's plenty of more unpopular opinions and eventually, I'll get around to all of them.
For now though, I'll leave you with my custard hatred.
