Manhwa Review: Who Made Me A Princess

One of the Top Reincarnation Manhwas

Princess Athanasia is cruelly killed by her father never receiving love or even his acknowledgment as his daughter. The ending of a romance novel that our MC reads right before dying.

Waking up as that same princess the protagonist fights to avoid that same fate. The only catch: she's starting from the beginning. Not just the beginning of the novel but Athanasia's childhood or toddlerhood. Either way she regains her memories of her past life when she's only a few months old. Unlike other reincarnation Manhwa, this puts us into the position of watching Athanasia (Athy) throughout her entire life.

Let me tell you right now that watching Athy grow up is amazing. I mean just look at the adorable angel. We get to see her go from a tiny child who goes around biting statues, yes that does happen, to a confident young woman. The relationship between Athy and her father takes us on a rollercoaster of emotion. He goes from hating her to becoming willing to do anything to make her happy.

Claude himself, her father, is a complicated character. Having his lover die giving birth to Athy only enhanced his abandonment issues which causes him to lash out. For the first few years of her life, Claude even tries to forget her existence using black magic to literally try erasing his own memories. Yes, if you're wondering that does come back to bite him later on. In the end he becomes a dotting over protective father, although he still doesn't want his little girl to date.

Lucas, the Magician of the Black Tower, and the Male lead, is amazing as well. For most of the story they don't even have a romance, instead, Lucas grows up as her best and only real friend. A Magician, he's one of the strongest characters in the Manhwa. This man even went off and bullied the poor world tree. I won't tell you much more about the characters since I don't want to spoil the story.

Art-wise Who Made Me a Princess is stunning. With vibrant colors and incredible flower symbolism. The comedic panels also drew a laugh out of me. One moment the story could be completely serious however the end of chapter panels would be hilarious. I could go on and on about the art style but i'd be more of the same.

The story is refreshing. It covers the perception of a girl whose never known familial love. From the moment Athy was born into her first life, she was destined to die. In her second life, she was an orphan with no one to depend on. I guess in a way that it's showing the three-times the charm superstition. It takes Athy three lives to finally be happy and knowing that turns the wholesome elements of the story a bit heartbreaking.

In truth this was the first Father-Daughter style manhwa i've ever read. It blew me away with how complex the characters were. The art kept me captivated while I was reading, at times i'd even find myself looking back up at the panels from time to time. The romance between Lucas and Athy is endearing. It's honestly a healthy relationship which all Manhwa reader will tell you is hard to find.

I'd recommend this manhwa to people who want to feel good about their lives or if your looking for a new MC to grow insanely attached too. The story is finished as well so binging it is completely possible. So, for anyone that's put off giving this story a try, I say go for it. There's really nothing to lose and if you love it enough that you're still craving more, theres also a novel version waiting for you.
