Who says love has an expiration date? Never give up on your greatest passion.

Letters to Juliet arrived in theaters in 2010. Traveling to Verona, Italy with her fiance, Sophie discovers a love letter that has been hidden behind brick stones for decades. Determined to help Claire, they venture out on a rejuvenating journey across Italy.

Letters to Juliet is an impactful love story. I am not sure how this movie slipped under my nose. The film explores the meaning of love in a journey of growth, discovering your passion, and exploring the world.

Playing another Sophie, Amanda Seyfried is wonderful as a young woman trying to grasp her true calling. Seyfried reflected deep emotion in the journey of her character. Sophie is challenged on what the real definition of love means. At times I felt traces of her character from Mamma Mia. It felt like a sequel to Mamma Mia at certain points.

The writers did an excellent job of connecting audiences to the characters and the atmosphere. There’s always more to a person than what is presented on the outside. This was my favorite angle of the film.

Vanessa Redgrave did a tremendous job. Claire teaches us, mostly older audiences that they will never lose their luster. She found the mindset of her character, telling stories, and expressing what love means. I adored the relationship garnered between Sophie and Claire.

The dynamic between Sophie and Charlie (Christopher Egan) was worked on closely, Even I wasn’t fond of Charlie, but I grew to like him. As I said, there is always more to a person if you make the effort to get to know them. You can easily feel the contrast in the interactions between Sophie and Victor (Gael Garcia Bernal).

You never know who you are going to bump into while on an adventure. I enjoyed all the colorful figures that the trio met up while on their mission to find Claire’s long-lost love. The women who worked as ‘Secretaries of Juliet’ were a highlight. They are a real club in Italy that I did not know about before watching.

Get ready to be spoiled with glorious location spots of Italy. We’re taken on countless montages through cities, well-known scenery, and delicious restaurants. The area where they filmed for Juliet’s Courtyard is a real courtyard in Italy! Now, this is a spot I would like to visit.

If there is any movie that makes you want to travel, this is the one. Exploring the world is necessary. Because the pandemic hindered us from traveling, this time has allowed us to seek where we want to go. Italy is a beautiful place to explore.

Love is a central theme in Letters to Juliet. Love has gone through an assortment of meanings throughout our lifetime. For most couples, young and old, this film is a message to all to be true in your love story. Not all love stories work out. And that’s okay. Before you fall in love, make time to explore yourself.

What is your passion? Aside from the theme of love, Gary Winick explored in fine detail how vital it is to follow your pathway. Don’t just do something because you feel like you have to. Life is the messy bits. Life is all about finding your passion, investing in love, and exploring places that you have never been to before. Most importantly, life is about finding you.

Letters to Juliet is a resonating story that shares you are never too old to start anything. Be yourself. I recommend that you find this movie and watch it.
