John J York has been portraying Mac Scorpio on ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL since 1991 which gives him 3 decades and 647 episodes on the longest running daytime soap. His character is married to Felicia Jones Scorpio and they are considered as one of the most beloved couples on the show. They do not have the super couple of Frisco and Felicia but The Scorpio's have endeared themselves to fans during the decades they have been together.

Mac is now the head of the detectives at the PCPD and his older brother Robert is a former spy and now the Port Charles DA. Together they are fighting crime and have their hands full right now with Peter August and Cyrus Renault. GENERAL HOSPITAL fans were delighted to see Mac and Felicia together again on the Friday, May 21 episode but were disappointed that the program did not live up to fans' expectations.

For more than a month news reports and spoilers for GENERAL HOSPITAL advised those who watch the ABC daytime soap to tune in for a special tribute to Sean Donnely as well as a mystery to be solved. GH lovers enjoyed seeing Robin, Anna, and Robert together once again, as well as having Mac and Felicia on hand. They were all in Ireland to attend the funeral for Sean Donnelly and met his daughter Annie, (Caitlin Reilly)

The tribute episode disappointed GH fans.

The great mystery that was promised was nothing more than the Port Charles crew, including Monica and Laura setting up clues for Annie to find to test her loyalty to the WSB. Sean's daughter passed the test and now is an actual member of the organization that has alum including her father Sean, Anna, Robert, Valentin, and Frisco Jones,(Jack Wagoner).

Mac and Felicia did not really have a starring role on Friday but fans were elated just to see them together. There has been no news as to whether Kristina Wagoner will stick around once everyone goes back to Port Charles but Mac has been in the loop on recent crimes in the city. He is heading the investigation into finding Jason Morgan and Britt Westbourne as well as trying to gain incriminating evidence on Cyrus Renault.

GH viewers want more of Mac and Felicia.

GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers are fiercely loyal to legacy characters such as Mac and Felicia and desire to see them have more airtime. Nothing has been reported as to whether John J York chose to have a recurring role on the ABC soap or if the writers made the decision for him. Based on what fans are saying on social media, they want to see more of the long-time Port Charles residents instead of new characters being added to the show.

Congratulations to John J York for portraying Mac Scorpio for 30 years on GENERAL HOSPITAL. Here's to hoping he will be around for 3 additional decades. Bill Hayes who portrays Doug Williams on NBC's DAYS OF OUR LIVES is still on the soap at age 96, although part-time so if the powers that be choose, York and other fan favorites can do the same if their health allows.
