Actress Jane Elliot began her career on General Hospital in 1978 and retired from the ABC daytime drama in 2017. Nothing official was ever mentioned about her future plans. Ms. Jane did not announce whether or not she might come back to the soap so it was assumed by fans that her leaving was permanent. Elliot said that after close to 40 years on the show she had given her all and it was time to leave. Many viewers thought she was taking the path of the man who was her on screen love interest.

Anthony Geary who had portrayed Luke Spencer for close to 4 decades walked away from his character in 2015 and said he would never return. There were rumors that he would show up again on General Hospital when Laura was in trouble but he never did. Geary was eventually coaxed back for a 60 second cameo. This was during Jane Elliot’s final scene as Tracy in May of 2017. Tracy walked into a cafe in Paris to find Luke seated at a table and that was the end for them both or so we thought.

Jane Elliot’s surprised fans when she returned to Port Charles as Tracy Quartermaine from November 2019 until January 2020. There was not a lot about f fanfare and only a brief mention in spoilers that the actress was returning. It was never stated whether or not this was Elliot’s idea or if the powers that be encouraged her to make a return. She did not have a major storyline but viewers were happy to see her in the Q mansion once more. Fans were elated when the actress showed up yet again to her popular role in November 2020. Just as in 2019 she was in time for the annual Thanksgiving fiasco.

Unfortunately, Tracy was on the sidelines of the drama of her family members and was not in a major storyline of her own. On Friday January 29 she departed yet again and perhaps this time it’s for good. Some viewers were disappointed because they thought she might get ELQ away from Valentin Cassadine and back into the hands of her family. The saga of Edward Quartermaine’s company seems to be lost in the maze of other storylines and was not dealt with. Instead Tracy Angelica almost destroyed the life of Alexis Davis by lying that she was drunk driving.

Tracy wanted to keep Alexis from blabbing to Olivia that she slept with Ned so her time in Port Charles was basically spent trying to keep Ms. Davis in check. Her attempts failed as the secret was revealed anyway and Ned and Olivia are at odds. Ms. Quartermaine did a wrong thing for a right reason but everyone is angry with her. Traci honestly thought Alexis would go to a rehab center and never meant to cause so much trouble. The On Friday, Monica advised her sister in law the leave town and give Ned and Olivia a chance to repair their marriage.

Monica said the couple would do much better without Tracy’s presence being a constant reminder of what had gone wrong. Thankfully Monica did not mention her famous line about the Q mansion being hers because Allen gave it to her. She simply gave her sister in law her marching papers and pointed out that the police were on their way. Law Inforcement was going to arrest Tracy for lying about Alexis driving while drunk. At the end of the episode a PCPD officer showed up at the Quartermain mansion looking for Tracy.

Monica invited him to come in and look around but advised him that her late husband’s sister had left the country. Now that she is a fugitive, Neds mother will have to stay away from Port Charles. Could this be a subtle way to let viewers know that Jane Elliot will not return to the soap that was her home off and on for 4 decades? The only way to find out is to see if Tracy shows up in November of 2021. She could always sneak back into town and beg forgivness and perhaps there might be some way to get the charges dropped so stay tuned.
