In this article, we will be looking at 2019’s book “1001 Movies to See Before You Die” and going through each film in a random order that I have chosen. We will be looking at what constitutes this film to be on the list and whether I think this film deserves to be here at all. I want to make perfectly clear that I won’t be revealing details from this book such as analyses by film reporters who have written about the film in question, so if you want the book itself you’ll have to buy it. But I will be covering the book’s suggestions on which films should be your top priority. I wouldn’t doubt for a second that everyone reading this article has probably watched many of these movies anyway. But we are just here to have a bit of fun. We’re going to not just look at whether it should be on this list but we’re also going to look at why the film has such a legacy at all. Remember, this is the 2019 version of the book and so, films like “Joker” will not be featured in this book and any film that came out in 2020 (and if we get there, in 2021). So strap in and if you have your own suggestions then don’t hesitate to email me using the address in my bio. Let’s get on with it then.

Inception (2010) dir. by Christopher Nolan

"Inception" (2010) is a Sci-Fi Action Thriller directed by Christopher Nolan that I honestly think you've already seen. But here it is anyway: it deals with dreams and the theft of secrets. Inception itself is when the source of an idea is planted within the subject's mind with the subject believing it was their own idea. But you already know that, don't you?

I remember watching this film in the cinema about ten years' ago from when this article was written. Immediately, it was a success and it became one of the most watched film of the year. Throughout the next ten years, it would make dozens and dozens of lists of 'best of all time' and 'best of the decade' as the decade ended.

On at least 50 of the lists regarding 2010, "Inception" was chosen as the best film of the entire year. In the next year, the BBC voted "Inception" (2010) as their ninth favourite film of all time. The Editor's Guild voted "Inception" (2010) as the 35th greatest film of all time because of the editing skills that have been used over the course of the movie.

During the Oscars of its year, "Inception" (2010) won a bunch of awards including Best Cinematography for the man who would later become the director of "Transcendence" starring Johnny Depp. It would also win a number of other awards apart from just the Oscars including: AFI's movie of the year, Hollywood Film Festival's Film of the Year, IGN Best Picture, The NBR Award, Multiple Scream Awards, The Hugo Awards and the World Soundtrack Award for Best Original Score for the legendary Hans Zimmer.

The Guild Awards were also many and thus, the critics and the audience were at some accord by enjoying the movie and its entire concept. All in all, the film has won a number of awards, appeared on a number of best-of-all-time lists, Guild Award Lists and many many more. With multiple awards for viewing and then again, multiple critics' choice awards and of course, appearing on Roger Ebert's Best of 2010 list for the Chicago Sun-Times. The total number of awards that "Inception" (2010) was nominated for included over 200 awards for critics and audiences together, winning over ninety of those for those.

Many people of movies have rated "Inception" (2010) as one of their favourite films of all time and favourite films in the history of cinema. Now, my final comment is: where is "Inception" (2010) on your list of favourite films and where would you place it in the history of cinema and its development? Do you think "Inception" (2010) is one of the greatest films of all time or do you think it is massively overrated?

I know where it stands in my mind. Personally, it was one of my favourite films during my teen years and honestly, I have seen it over twenty times; a few times in the cinema and then many, many times in DVD and then I got it on Apple Movies when my DVD player stopped working. This is a brilliant brilliant movie that definitely deserves its place on the list.
