Unless you were like me and living under a rock until last week, you probably know the sensational Netflix show "Squid Game".

It's no secret that the west in particular has a thing for death game shows, or shows with danger in general. So it's not surprising how popular Squid Game became.

So if finishing Squid Game left you with a tv show void, here is a list of other great shows with lovable characters and unfortunate situations.

1. Cube

This will be the only western media in my list, but I had to include it because it's essence reminded me of Squid Game.

This 1997 Canadian film tells the story of a group of people who awake to find themselves in a maze of cube shaped rooms with no tools or clues to why the are there. With each new room exposing new fears and danger the group loses sanity and their suspicion grows. We are left wondering how they will escape, and remind us to pay attention in math class.

You can find Cube on Amazon Prime video and YouTube

2. My Name

This show is already topping the Netlfix charts for America, and it is probably filling many people's void after they finished Squid Game.

This show focuses on a young girl who will do anything to get revenge and justice for her dad after he was killed. On her mission for justice she uncovers dirty secrets after joining a drug gang but furthers her plan by becoming an undercover cop. This show is also filled with danger, societal problems, and great characters. It will have you on the edge of your seat as you begin to care for our main character as she falls into constant perilous situations.

3. Night in Paradise

his film follows a gangster who is too nice for his own good. After a tragic incident with relating gangs, he becomes targeted and is ordered to hide out on Jeju island. In Jeju his caregivers consist of a secretive woman with her own problems and her uncle. This movie will have you on an emotional roller-coaster while hoping to see these two have a happy ending in an unfair world.

A night in Paradise is also on Netflix.

4. Kingdom

Another very popular show on Netflix, Kingdom is an amazing thriller zombie show sure to make you anxious.

This show takes place in the infamous Joeson period of Korean history. The king has turned into a zombie, but the selfish queen and her father keep it a secret from the whole kingdom. On top of that there is a zombie outbreak across the country, and the crown prince is being hunted by the royal guards for trying to live on his own will. This show is a perfect fit for suspense lovers and adrenaline chasers.

You can find Kingdom on Netflix.

5. Mouse

This is a truly great show that gave me anxiety and stress with every new episode. That may sound like a bad thing, but if you want a good story this is the K-drama for you.

Our story consists of the history of a "legendary" serial killer and how the government once planned to test pregnant women to see if their baby had the "murdering" gene. In this story murderers and geniuses and confused, and we do not even know who our main character really is. Our police man protagonist seems so perfect, but is he the kid who killed his family all those years ago? In this show you will always question who is the good guy and who is the bad one?

You can watch Mouse fully subtitled on Rakuten Viki.com

6. Sabaha

Does this face look familiar? It's because it is our beloved main character from Squid Game.

This movie is a bit darker, and has themes of demons etc so it is good for fans of movies like the exorcist. In this film a young girl has a twin sister but her and her family are shunned from social life for causing "bad luck" for the village. They go through their own struggles, but when bad things start to happen it attracts the attention of priests and police. It will leave you afraid, perfect in time for Halloween.

I always have more to share so like if you want more!
