Adorned by Chi is a manga series and lifestyle brand created by Jacque A. in 2015 and has bloomed into a successful business with a solid fan base.

Adorned by Chi has a manga series focused on the storyline of normal high school students who have a secret.... they all have magical powers!

Adorned by Chi is a lovely community that promotes peace, cuteness, love, and magic for everyone. Adorned by Chi’s concepts, instagram posts, and manga comics have inspired me and many others to appreciate the way we are and embrace others’ uniqueness as well, all while being cute and feminine.

Adorned by Chi’s main characters are 4 main magical girls and one magical guy!

The characters of Adorned by Chi inspire us to stay positive as they battle self-doubt, stubbornness, insecurity, emotions, and the tiring reality of being a university student. I, as well as many others can relate to at least one of these aspects. When I started reading the manga of Adorned by Chi I was shocked that it was free, because the art and storyline are anything but cheap! This manga will make you fall in love with the characters and over time even make you appreciate yourself more.

Like Adaeze, we can struggle with our emotions and begin to avoid people. Or like Kelechi, who tends to be broody and moody, we can become too coarse. In the end however, all characters, like ourselves, can grow with self-improvement and understanding of one another.

Get to know all the characters like GoGo, the twin sister of Kelechi. Kaira, the calm and collected promoter of mindfulness. Then there is the special guy of the group, Emeka, who always strives for his goals and encourages us to be leaders.

The characters’ struggles are a universal language, and many say the Adorned by Chi series is the “Black Sailor Moon we always waited for”. I personally love the famous Sailor Moon, Card captor Sakura, and other magical girls, but I believe Adorned by Chi is still its own unique story to add to the world of magical girls and does not need any comparison. Adorned by Chi adds diversity and beauty to our beloved magical girl world, and the the anime world as a whole!

The magic of representation

Adorned by Chi proudly represents the first of its kind among representing black characters diversely in the magical girl genre. One of Adorned by Chi’s special characteristics is that it also incorporates Nigerian culture into the characters. Their University is “Peace University” and is located in Nigeria. When the characters transform into their magical counterparts, they also wear Nigerian face paint and modernized African dresses. This is truly a rare gem of a manga series and stands to show it is beautiful to be yourself, no matter what type of fashion, hobbies, or TV shows that you like. especially if it is anime.
