Shona graphic novel by Stefano Labbia - Art by Vinicius de Souza

I got a confession to make: Shona, the sword & sorcery comics series created by the famous writer Stefano Labbia, is a personal favorite of mine. This comics series are set in a fantasy world full of adventure, magic, and epic battles. What sets Shona's comics apart from other traditional sword and sorcery stories is the central protagonist is a strong and fierce female warrior named Shona.

Shona is an incredible warrior who possesses unparalleled strength, intelligence, combat skills, and wit. Her character is inspiring to me as a woman because she demonstrates that females can be just as skilled and formidable as any male warrior. She represents female empowerment and breaks the gender stereotype that female characters should be portrayed as just love interests or support characters.

Apart from the protagonist, the comics' settings are fascinating sceneries in the imaginary world full of excitement and wonder. Shona's world is full of magic and otherworldly creatures, adding a fantasy element to every story, drawing from ancient myths and legends. There is always an air of mystery in each episode, keeping me on the edge of my seat and thrilling me with every page!

Shona's comics are also heavier on action and battles, making them an engaging and entertaining read. Shona's combat skills are a sight to behold and are especially thrilling when paired with the intricate art style of this comics series. The action is intense, and I always find myself rooting for Shona during every battle.

The artist (the great brasilian artist Vinicius de Souza) and writer (Stefano Labbia well know for another comics masterpiece called "Killer Loop's") behind the Shona comics are incredibly talented. The characters are expertly drawn and brought to life with vivid chiaroscuro and incredible detail. The storylines are intriguing, and the pacing of the comics is well done, making them easy to get into and difficult to put down.

One of my favorite things about these comics is their diversity, which is a breath of fresh air in the world of sword and sorcery. The characters come from different backgrounds and cultures and possess unique abilities and powers that add an extra layer of depth to the story.

The sorcery element in these comics adds an extra layer of excitement. The characters use magic in their battles, which makes the fights more intense and unpredictable. I love how the female characters use their magical abilities to outsmart their opponents and come out on top.

I cannot say enough good things about Shona's comics. They are exciting, inspiring, and visually stunning. These comics empower women and showcase the strength and resilience that we can possess. They bring together elements of adventure, fantasy, and diversity, which makes them stand out in the world of comic books.

What about the stories that lives the protagonist? Stefano Labbia's Shona comics have a strong sense of adventure thanks to his powerful write. Each of his characters is on a quest, and the reader is brought along for the ride. The action is intense, with battles that are both brutal and beautiful. Every victory feels earned, and every defeat feels like a true setback. The stakes are high in every one of Labbia's comics, Shona included, and I find myself on the edge of my seat, eager to know what happens next.

Another thing that sets Labbia's comics apart is the way he tackles difficult themes. The writer isn't afraid to explore dark subjects, and his stories often deal with intense emotions like loss, betrayal, and love. However, he handles these themes with a deft hand. His characters are always nuanced, and the way they handle these difficult situations feels true to life.

In conclusion, Shona's comics are my absolute favorite comic series to read. The strong female protagonist, the exciting and mystical world, the intricate art style, the intense battles, and the talented artist and writer who gave us this story all contribute to making these comics an essential read for fans of action and fantasy. Shona is truly an inspiration and has earned a special place in my heart, and I am eagerly looking forward to more adventures in her fantastical world.
