'General Hospital' spoilers say Sasha may exit Port Charles

Soap Dirt is reporting that a trusted source from General Hospital says that Sasha Gilmore could be on her way out of Port Charles. The spoiler says this has not been confirmed but the leaker is someone whose word is valued. A few weeks back Soap Dirt revealed that a trusted set insider had said that two female actresses on the CBS daytime drama had tested positive for COVID. This was never confirmed but when Kelly Monaco was sent home for 2 weeks the rumor mill said she might be one of the infected females because a good friend of hers was infected with the coronavirus.

Kelly is back at work and nothing more was said. For this reason, the words "Leaker" and "trusted source" should be taken with a grain of salt. There was a time when trusted sources could be counted on to give reliable information, but this is mo longer true. Just before Christmas of 2019, a "reliable source/set insider" revealed that Head writer Josh Griffith and Jason Thompson(Billy Abbott) were about to be fired from The Young and the Restless" but both are still there. Even so, there are some compelling reasons that Sasha might be written out of General Hospital.

Valentin brought Sasha Gilmore to Port Charles to pretend to be Nina's daughter. That hoax was exposed but by then Sasha had fallen for Michael. Chase and Ms. Gilmore pretended to have an affair in order to push Michael and Willow together. When this is revealed the duo may be considered as manipulators rather than champions. Once Wiley is safely back home, Sasha will have no real ties to Port Charles. She is the Face of Deception but her drug use could escalate and cause her to be fired. Sasha seems to always be on the fringes without any real connection to anyone in Port Charles.

Sophia Mattsson's character has no roots so she could easily become expendable. Her drug use could spiral out of control and set off a chain reaction of events, including Sasha's death. Michael is getting closer to Willow every day and the only friend Sasha has is Chase. On Monday, Sasha showed up at the Quartermaine mansion and expressed her sorrow over Wiley. When she left, both Willow, and Nina who was visiting said they missed her. Sasha seems like a lost soul right now, who is aimlessly wandering through Port Charles, without any real purpose.

Another factor in the possible departure of Sophia Mattson is her uncanny resemblance to Kelly Thiebaud, who portrays Britt Westbourne. Some viewers have expressed on social media that they would rather have the fiery, unpredictable daughter of Liesl Obrecht in Port Charles instead of the woman who looks so much like her. There had even been rumors and spoilers that the two might be sisters but it does not look like the storyline is headed in that direction. Kelly Thiebaud returned briefly to her role as Britt to visit her mother in jail, and have a fling with Julian Jerome. She left town after a few days and there has been nothing said about her return.

The bottom line to all of this is that the writers are not giving Sasha any meaty material and viewers already know the drug abuse scenario will not end well. Sasha could end up as collateral damage so that Michael and Willow can be together. Some fans were shocked when Ms. Gilmore remained in Port Charles and began dating Michael. The writers can always turn things around but right now there does not seem to be a future for Sofia Mattsson/Sasha Gilmore on General Hospital.
