Brooklyn Silzer grew up on General Hospital

Brooklyn Rae Silzer began portraying Emma Drake on General Hospital in 2011 when she was five, although some reports say she was eight. The actress was born on April 27, 2006, which made her five in 2011. In 2013 she won a Young Artist Award and won a Young Entertainer Award in 2016 for her portrayal of Emma.

A young Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) fell in love with her and battled with Cameron Webber ( then Braeden Walkes) for her heart. Before Nicholas Chaves was recast as the Cassadine Prince, many fans hoped Bechtel and Silzer would return to the screen and Spencer and Emma would have a teen romance. Instead, Spencer was aged a few years and fell in love with Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).

Fans have watched Brooklyn on-screen grow into a beautiful young woman who is now 17 and recently attended her high school prom. She was also crowned prom queen and is very excited.

Brooklyn is heading to nursing school

Silzer told Soap Opera Digest that she is now considering a career path, and her choice was influenced by her time on General Hospital. Brooklyn will be heading to college and applying for nursing school.

“Because ever since I started, I’ve known I wanted to be a nurse, I think since I was six years old,” she confessed. “I always said, ‘I want to be a nurse when I grow up,’ and it just stayed with me, and I’ve become more inspired as I’ve been doing volunteer work throughout my high school years.”

Emma was written out with her parents

On GH, Emma's parents, Robin and Patrick Drake ( Kimberly McCullough and Jason Patrick) are doctors. The family left Port Charles for California when McCullough decided to leave acting to direct, and Patrick began portraying Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless.

Emma has returned to Port Charles a few times after her family moved out of state. The last time was for Thanksgiving 2023, when she spent time with her grandparents' soap legends Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).

Silzer is an award-winning actress

Many close friends and associates of the Drake family are nurses on the General Hospital staff. When Patrick thought Robin was dead, he dated nurse Sabrina Santiago ( Teresa Castillo). Robin's relationship with Stone Cates (Michael Sutton), who died of Aids, is the reason for the annual GH Nurses Ball.

In 2016 Brooklyn was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. She has a younger sister London Silzer, who is also an actress. In addition to the ABC soap, the 17-year-old actress has appeared on Criminal Minds Beyond Borders, CSI New York, Children's Hospital, Code Black, Christmas in Homestead, and How to Be a Latin Lover.

Brooklyn could return to GH in the future

Although fans and spoilers have been saying for years that Emma should return to Port Charles, it does not look like this will happen now. Brooklyn Silzer is focused on a career in nursing and has not said anything about returning to acting or General Hospital.

This could change in the future, as actors do rethink their decisions. Who knows, perhaps we will see Emma Scorpio Drake again someday. For now, the young actress is focused on a different career and her fans wish her well. Congratulations to Brooklyn Rae Silzer on becoming prom queen and choosing to help others with a career in nursing. Kudos to General Hospital for being such a positive influence on the young lady.
