'General Hospital' fans await confirmation of "blind item" and so do those who watch 'THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS'

The past two weeks have been filled with anticipation for soap fans who watch two of the four remaining daytime soaps. It was announced that a"blind" item indicated a popular actress was walking away from her role and at first it was said she was on GENERAL HOSPITAL. The rumor mill suggested Laura Wright and later Kelly Monaco but nothing was ever confirmed. The next teaser suggested it might be Michelle Stafford or Hunter King from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Daytime drama fans are curious and want the truth but so far they are still waiting.

There still has been no official confirmation so spoilers and viewers continue to wait for news of the identity of the female soap star. The rumors indicated that she was prominent and dissatisfied with the direction of her character. Right now there is only one of the four women named whose character seems to be about to leave town but this might mean nothing at all. It could be one of these women or someone completely different. Soaps can also recast a character so the storyline does not always indicate what is really going on.

Since the news broke, Michelle Stafford's character Phyllis Summers has done nothing to suggest she might be leaving Genoa City. Hunter King who plays her daughter Summer Newman, however, is about to take a job abroad in Milan. King has left THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS before to work on primetime pilots but always returned to the series that has made her famous. Her character Summer is running away from Kyle in order to allow him to spend time with his newly found son Harrison Locke.

Spoilers suggest that Tara Locke is going to attempt to seduce Kyle by taking him down memory lane regarding their relationship. It's not clear if this happens because Summer has indeed left town and no one knows for sure that she will really walk away. There is always the possibility that Kyle would fly to Italy and attempt to win her back but until something factual is written about the situation those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS can only guess. On Monday Summer was at leaving The Grand Phoenix with Nick ready to board the Newman jet after saying goodbye to her loved ones. The episode looked as if this were Ms, Newman's final goodbye but again nothing has been confirmed so stay tuned.

On GENERAL HOSPITAL every indication is that Lauren Wright's character is headed for a big storyline. Carly is supposed to marry Jason Morgan or another mob boss and she will definitely be around when her husband Sonny surfaces from the dead. Wright is the third actress to portray Carly so recasting this character would be the norm. Wright has had the role longer than her predecessors with 20 years on the ABC soap. Fans are wondering why there is so much speculation rather than confirmation on what is indeed going on.

Spoilers for GENERAL HOSPITAL indicate that when Drew returns he will reunite with Sam and his daughter Scout. Some viewers believe Kelly Monaco is the disgruntled actress because she was angry when Billy Miller was fired as Drew and said she preferred Sam with Drew and not his twin Jason. If Kelly does leave GH could always call Lindsay Hartley on who had the role when Monaco was out for 2 weeks. The bottom line is that soap fans do not know any more today than they did when the "blind item" story first broke so stay tuned.
