Finale

Alright folks we have reached the end of the first season of Gen V. We know that this finale will lead pretty much right into the next season of The Boys that is prepped for a 2024 release. When we left off last episode there were a few vials of this supe killing virus left and it is now in the hands of a politician, so that’s gonna end well. These kids also all know what’s been going on and dean Sheddy is dead. Oh right, and also Polarity is in the hospital for an unknown reason. So there is kind of a lot to wrap up in this last episode and set up if there is to be a second season. So here we go with the Gen V season finale.

Cate and Sam are on a crusade to free all the kids from The Woods. And this is playing out like an X-Men comic. Marie, Emma, and Jordan are off to stop Cate and Sam on their own.

Andre is mostly focused on his dad and the fact that the using of his powers is going to end up killing him.

And here is where our connection to The Boys comes in, Vought is pulling one of the kids right into the 7. They are going through the school roster figuring out who to pull up. I anticipate that might be a plot point in the next season of The Boys.

Cate is now leading the brotherhood of evil mutants from The Woods against the school and humans. Yup this is just a really graphic X-Men comic. Some of the supes want control and they are taking it by force.

Sam can go die actually. How dare he act like Emma is the most loving and selfless person on this show. He really just called her desperate and selfish and he’s so very very wrong.

These Woods kids going absolutely apeshit on campus is obviously going to bleed into season 4 of The Boys. With this many supes either dead or crazy they are definitely going to have to address it.

I love the way they show Marie using her powers differently as the show goes on. She’s got more control and can do more with her blood powers without having to drain herself. The progression of her powers was written really well. I knew Marie was gonna end up super OP. She is literally more powerful than any other Supe.

They actually brought in Homelander, this is also actually wildly upsetting. Vought of course spins the campus attack in a way that props up Sam and Cate. Our four good heroes aren’t dead but they are locked away somewhere. We get an end credit scene with Butcher discovering the remnants of The Woods.

Gen V was an awesome show, it set up some great younger characters and filled out the world outside of Vought. We got to see some of the effects of Vought and its influence on some much different characters that still have a moral compass. It also did a great job of setting up the next season of The Boys. A little Homelander sneak peek and Butcher preview tells us that season 4 is going to at the very least acknowledge the events of this first season of Gen V. The Gen V finale did play out like a very graphic X-Men comic while still retaining its signature commentary. The whole season built up to it but the finale really sat into the whole us vs them, Supes vs humans storyline that The Boys generates on a more personal level.
