The first draft to Game of Mass Destruction is currently at 17,000 words on Microsoft Word as of writing. With all my long stories, I always aim for 50,000. So the novel is pretty much half way there. There are currently three fanfic versions ofGame of Mass Destruction, but only one is complete. As mentioned in an article I wrote months ago, it remains one of my most ambitious projects to date.

By recycling the same story but with different characters, it gave me the confidence to write a new story with original characters. Through this, I discovered how fanfiction boosted my confidence and pushed me to create my own fresh content. It also provoked my passion for character-driven stories.

I can bypass bad writing and grammar if I care about the characters. For me, the characters are the most important part of the story. If I don't care about the characters, why should I care about the story? Even though I created all twenty characters, I still don't feel like I know everything about them. I feel that the more I write about them and make plans, than the more I get to know my characters.

Which is why I feel that I know Bobby and Patrick more than the others: they're the main characters of my book, Fishman. I've not written as much as I would have liked, in fact, I was hoping to finish the first draft by the end of the year, but I got promoted on my new job and life has been very busy. Plus I haven't been very well, but I've recovered so I will soon be back in the writing spirit soon.

Despite not doing as much writing as planned, I've still got all the characters in my mind and can still visualise them moving around. I've made plans for what happens to all the characters, but when I publish the novel on Amazon, I'll add some alternate endings.

Bobby Fishman & Todd Patrick

Bobby and Todd are characters that I've written a lot about. Todd was the main protagonists' grandson in Emerald Oasis and played a bigger role in Fishman. The GOMD novel is set a few years after Fishman and at this point, Bobby has finally become a priest. I've read some of the comments I've had over the months about Fishman and a lot of them are like, "Fuck Todd!"

If Fishman was ever a movie, Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be the person I'd want to cast as Bobby Fishman. His physical features match Jonathan Rys Meyers and I thought it was a coincidence that he originally wanted to be a priest as well.

I based Todd Patrick's image based on Tom Felton. I always had him pictured in my head when I write about Todd as an adult. I think Todd and Bobby have a great friendship and even though Todd is an arsehole, there are traits about him that are really likeable. It helps their dynamic work.

I had a suggestion to make Bobby and Todd a romantic couple, I did try it but it just didn't work. Todd is straight and Bobby is too interested in his games and church work to be looking for sexual pleasure.

Christian Strippers & Lavander Knickers

I put the name in as a joke, but they're very serious characters. Despite their constant bickering, the two really care about each other and always stick together. They bring out the best and worst of each other.

Christian is a fitness coach and believes that he can tackle the world's obesity crisis through his weight loss programs.

Lavender is a makeup blogger who hates her name so much that she uses a fake name whenever she can. Christian and Lavender are childhood sweethearts, they've been on and off since high school. They have a daughter together and another four from one-night-stands and other relationships.

Being a father terrifies Christian. No matter how hard he tried, he could not bring himself to support his children. He is a serial cheat unable to forgive himself and believes his children will be better off not knowing he existed.

Lavender loves the attention of being pregnant but hates the responsibility. Deciding that parenthood wasn't for them, Lavender's cousin, Violet took adopted them, although Violet and Lavender's strong sisterhood was shattered because of Lavender's reluctance to accept responsibility for the children whilst Violet and her husband were unable to conceive.

Lavender tends to moan a lot and Christian does his best to try and assure her. Talk about makeup and the latest fashion trends her face will beam up.

The best way to describe Lavender and Christian is that they are young and reckless. They work and play hard, but their biggest weakness is not reaching out to their family. Something that the two of them will go on to regret.

Catherine & Alfie Banjo

Catherine Banjo had dreams of being the biggest superstar in Australia. She dabbled in glamour modelling, singing and acting but never got to get the big break she was hoping for. She was married to a music producer and had two daughters with him. She was forced to cast her dreams aside to become a mother and also had to work part-time while her daughters were at school. Unknown to her daughters and husband, she became a sex worker and got pregnant on the job.

Devistated, her husband left her and her daughters chose to go with their father, leaving Catherine raising baby Alfie alone. Catherine is fiercely protective over her son and if she could, she would keep him caged at home.

Alfie is polite and softely spoken, and acts a lot younger than his age due to his sheltered upbringing. He likes seeing his sisters when he can. He does not know his biological father.

They are both unemployed and on benefits. Alfie liked school and would like to work, but for reasons unknown, Catherine forbids it. I chose to name this obsessive mother Catherine after Catherine of Aragon.

Sakura & Yuzuko

Sakura works at a local maid cafe. She is proud of her Japanese heritage and her favourite show is Downton Abbey. She's in a relationship with Yuzuko, and has not told her friends and family this. The reason for this is because she feels responsible for her husband's suicide.

Yuzuko works as a receptionist for her grandfather's IT company. When she was younger, she was in an arranged marriage and they had a son together. As the stress of coursework, work and motherhood took it's toll on the young woman, she became more dependant on Sakura.

Yuzuko's husband commited suicide after finding out about her affair with Sakura and the two lovers had decided to keep it a secret ever since until the day they take part in the Game of Mass Destruction.

Mariangela & Pedro

Mariangela is a former pop star from Florence and lives with her husband, Pedro, a businessman who specialises in hotels. Mariangela is now a model, and takes her fashion career very seriously, even prioritising her status over her husband. Mariangela's stepchildren dislike her even though she compliments their looks all the time.

Mariangela and Pedro want to be number one at everything they do. I've picked Keira Knightly and Benedict Cumberbatch as their image because Knightly is a stunning lady and Cumberbatch looks similar to Pedro.

Pedro tries his best to keep the family at peace, but all too often he gets the blame for all the family troubles even if it's Mariangela's fault.

Mi Chang-Hoon & Mi Sook-Jo

Chang-Hoon and Sook-Jo are twins from South Korea. Sook-Jo considers herself to be the pretty twin and Chang-Hoon calls himself the wise twin. Despite that, the childish spirit never left Chang-Hoon. He enjoys teasing his sister at work by ordering complicated drinks at Starbucks where she works as a Barista.

In return, Sook-Jo winds her brother up by requesting BTS records at his record store, knowing fully well that he can't stand them and only tolerates them because his girlfriend, Yanyu adores them.

Chang-Hoon met his girlfriend, Yanyu on a discord server dedicated to a Japanese puzzle game called Chokko Donatsu. They started video calling on a regular basis and eventually got into a long-distance relationship.

Hendrik & Pieter

Hendrik and Pieter have known each other since school. Ever since their eyes met they had a fierce rivalship but an even greater friendship. They both own brothels in amsterdam, although Hendrik believes that he's creating art with his prostitutues. Pieter works at a bank in the day, and at night he looks after his brothel.

They both have some high profile clients including footballers, mafia members and politicians. Pieter dosen't tell Hendrik about his brothel as he knows that he will try to outdo him as they try to make everything as a big competition.

Hassin & Nila

Hassin and Nila both work at nurses in different hospitals within the same trust. Hassin and Nila are neighbours and Hassin is great friends with Nila's husband. Nila and Hassin often joke about their children marrying each other.

Hassin is a polygot and is fluent in several languages, but is not very confident in his English even though he can speak it perfectly.

Aron & Rós

Rós and Aron are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. As tour guides they take tourists from all over the world around the many wonders of Iceland. Outside of work, they can be seen hanging out in coffee shops and taking long drives around the countryside.

Fan & Yanyu

Fan is a popular teacher at a prestigious school in Shanghai and used his status to get his niece a place in the school. Fan and Yanyu live together in a one-bedroom apartment where Fan sleeps on the floor. He knows about Yanyu's online relationship with her Korean boyfriend, Chang-Hoon and is concerned for her welfare. Yanyu assures her uncle that she's fine. At first, she doesn't understand why her Uncle Fan tries to act like an overprotective father until she's faced with many challenges in the Game of Mass Destruction.

Yanyu and Fan have no other family than each other. Yanyu's parents had died young and Fan raised her alone.
