It's ride or die with the Fast and Furious movies, each one getting faster and faster, and the upcoming Fast X (2023) is no different. It's already amazing, and it gives us almost a four-minute trailer to officially introduce just how outrageous and high-octane this first two-part finale is going to be. Rita Moreno, Jason Momoa, and Brie Larson appear as new characters, each with a different connection to the larger story. If anything, this series loves the chapter of Vin Diesel's curly "family" more than the retcon and there is one important thing that brings us back to the part that changed the future of this series. The group will not be reduced, although hints of danger may drop the returning faces in the final. Racing is where this long-running franchise began, and much of it promises it hasn't forgotten.

In one big moment in the trailer, Dominic Toretto (Diesel) says, with a mixture of exhaustion and determination: "Victory was before victory. We fought for respect. Today I fight to end the carnage." Fasten your seat belts and don't be afraid to hit the red nitrous button as we speed through the wreckage of the Fast X trailer.

Growing Family

The Toretto Apartment in Los Angeles is an iconic movie theater, although a real-life neighborhood dealing with reckless drivers might say it's too famous. The franchise made it even more iconic when Rita Moreno appeared as Abuela Toretto. Dressed in white and gold, Moreno speaks at a table reminiscent of the Last Supper, seated with an expanding body. Included are Han (Sung Kang), Tej (Ludacris), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), British hacktivist Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). "I know this path has been very difficult," Moreno begins, "and yet, here you are building this wonderful family." Is it too much to ask to see this veteran EGOT actor save the day behind the wheel of Dom's jet black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T?

Dom's favorite vehicle appears and takes on a whole new meaning. If it once meant his personal freedom, now he is a father who wants to pass it on to his child. Little Brian (Leo Abelo Perry), Dom's son with the late Elena (Elsa Pataky), is also sitting at the barbecue table. No doubt this main timeline may be coming to an end, but it may not be long before we get sequels after the older Brian. As for Dom, here is a man who has never lived in fear, and continuing the basic theme of family, Dom has someone he is afraid to hurt. And that relationship will be his Achilles' heel, as Jason Momoa's Dante is the new villain who arrives to unleash complete and utter revenge. This is also where the retcon comes out like a whip.

Jason Momoa

Dante has probably always been a part of the series, just in the background. With a complex mythology rivaling some science fiction, the series originates from the Brazilian bank robbery that our speed skaters pulled off in Fast Five (2011), the fifth episode that changed gears and reinvented the franchise. maybe Dante is the son of Brazilian drug lord Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida), who was killed in Fast Five's climactic bridge battle. There was also Dante, who survived the vault destroyed by Reyes' henchmen. Now she has a warning for Dom: “You've built such a beautiful life, full of love and family,” and feeling robbed, she tells him, “I'm going to break yours. Piece by piece.” In this retcon, it also works with showing clips of Paul Walker, another way the series has kept its legacy alive.

There is nothing to suggest that the action sequences will be anything other than wildly exciting. The focus seems to be on destroying vehicles on Earth, rather than another trip into the upper atmosphere like F9 (2021). Dante's introduction brings hand-to-hand combat and explosives that detonate with a powerful shockwave, so damaged cars will surely reach the sky, only to find fireballs flying around like the ultimate wreck. There's even a massive metal ball that rolls down a city street, nearly trapping pedestrians and successfully slicing a bus in half, all of which make the trap in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) look tame.

A New Ally

A new ally, Tess (Brie Larson), teams up with Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) and learns that Dante is not just making crazy threats, he is sorry for the Toretto clan. Dom's estranged brother Jakob (John Cena) also returns, blowing up cars in his wake and literally punching a SWAT team member through the floor of the house. At one point, Jakob also appears to escape from the tunnels last seen in the fourth film. Dom's sister Mia ( Jordana Brewster ) seems to be in danger, which is not good news because that trailer wants to strongly suggest that no one gets out alive. Best of all, Letty is getting a new action show. Michelle Rodriguez has fought Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey in some brutal battles, and she gets another in this trailer. After waking up in a medical facility, Letty is joined by master criminal Cipher (Charlize Theron) and the two do not receive a warm welcome as they use their fists and knees to take the others down.

"Never accept death when suffering is right," Dante hisses in one, then another. "That's the problem with such a big family. How do you choose the ones to save?" He kidnaps little Brian and lures his father to the bridge, a place where the Fast and the Furious appear to be making love. First, a giant plane drops Dom's car, and when the helicopter tries to catch him, its ropes allow Dom to push them both to the ground. Can this Toretto do anything? In a brief glimpse, Queenie ( Helen Mirren ) shares a switch with Dom, though her son Deckard ( Jason Statham ) gets a bigger glimpse. Despite the fact that they tried to kill Han a long time ago, it seems that they have to put those little differences aside to come together. The biggest reveal may be how crucial the rivalry becomes once again when Dom and Dante face a challenge of good and evil. This won't be the last run of movies, and there's one more to come, but hopefully it'll be a show.

Like any good trailer, single trailers add intensity. "One of us may not come back from this, but we have to fight," Letty notes, noting that no one is left without bruised fingers. "He's trying to tear us apart," Han mentions and repeats, which could really hurt these characters. Together they have each other, they have created a family unit. And Dante personally makes sure they feel all their loss as he does, despite being involved with a violent drug lord. With another chapter to go with Toretto's team, the chances of Fast X reaching a high body count are slim. Most of the lineup will probably make it, but whether this lot will make it is still a mystery. of its beloved characters and if it has a cliffhanger ending like any decent two-parter. Until Dom can say "family," its release in May can't come soon enough.
