Ellen Degeneres is COVID positive: Talk show is on hiatus

The host says she will see her fans after the holidays and asked them to stay safe.

It is being reported that yet another entertainer is infected with the coronavirus. According to Soap Hub, Ellen Degeneres announced on the official Twitter account for her show that she has tested positive for COVID-19. Ms. Degeneres is just the latest in a growing number of celebrities who have been infected during the pandemic. The Ellen Degeneres Show debuted on September 8, 2003, and airs in syndication so check your local listings for when it is available in your area. The show was first broadcast from the Burbank Studios, but later moved to the Warner Bros. lot. Ellen has a large following and interacts well with her studio audience.

Since COVID-19 restrictions have been put in place, Ellen first aired without a studio audience and later she began broadcasting from her home. The talk show has had a pretty impressive record when it comes to being recognized and receiving honors. garnered over 170 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and received 61 Daytime Emmys thus far. Ellen's popular show has won four Outstanding Talk Show awards and seven for Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment as well as She has won a total of 30 Emmys, and 20 People's Choice Awards and holds the record of the most awards ever.

During the summer of 2020, a controversy arose regarding the popular program. There were a number of allegations of a hostile workplace environment including harassment of the staff. There was an internal investigation and three senior staff members walked away. Ellen apologized and said she would ensure a workplace where "everyone would be treated with respect." It was not made public, however, whether the harassment came from Ms. Degeneres herself, or others on her payroll. No one knows if Ellen was made aware of the problems prior to the situation being made public.

Ellen Degeneres was born on January 26, 1958 and raised in Metairie, Louisiana. Her parents are Elliot DeGeneres and Elizabeth Jane. She has one brother, Vance, and was raised a Christian Scientist. After her parents divorced, her mother remarried and Ellen says she was molested by her stepfather. In addition to hosting her talk show, Ellen is an actress, comedian, writer, and producer. From 1994-1998 she starred in the sitcom Ellen. She stared in The Ellen show for one season from 2001-2002. DeGeneres has authored 4 books, and has her own production company A Very Good Production.

Ellen also started her own record company Eleveneleven. She also hosted the Grammy Awards, Academy Awards, and the Primetime Emmys. She has been very busy during her career which began in the 1980s. Her versatility includes an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, in 1986, starring in Mr. Wrong in 1996 and EDtv, and The Love Letter both in 1999. She was the voice of Dory in the Pixar animated films Finding Nemo in 2003 and Finding Dory in 2016. for Nemo. Ellen has the distinction of being the first actress awarded the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress, for a voice performance.

In 2017–2018, DeGeneres began hosting the NBC game show Ellen's Game of Games which is based on and expands on games that were played on her talk show. There has been no information on whether Ellen's partner Porsha Rosse was also infected. What is known is that Ellen and Porshe have donated at least 1 million dollars to COVID research. DeGeneres said that everyone who has been in close contact with her has already been notified. She added that she was following the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and said her show would resume in January.
