On December 2 the actor had been portraying Robert Scorpio for four decades.
Congratulations to soap vet Tristan Rogers who recently reached a milestone with General Hospital. Rogers has portrayed super spy Robert Scorpio off and on for 40 years. His timing of leaving and returning to the show often give the impression that he was never away from the ABC daytime drama at all. He falls in line in such a way that it only appears as if he were not on screen in every episode. Whenever he shows up, the spy from Down Under fits right in with whatever storylines are taking place at that time.
Rogers was born in Melboure, Australia on June 3 1946 and the 74 year old comes and goes without missing a beat on General Hospital. This attests to his being a true professional as well as the relationship he has with the powers that be. During his time on the show, Rogers has had two great love stories when Robert was paired with Anna Devane and later Holly Sutton. The later is presumed dead but viewers know she is being held captive. This will be agreat future storyline for Robert. In addition to his work on the ABC daytime drama, the actor also voiced Jake in the Disney animated movie The Rescuers Down Under. . Lets take a look at the amazing career of one of Port Charles's most beloved citizens.
Tristan Rogers initially was in the role of Robert Scorpio for 12 years, from December 2 1980, until February 25, 1992. The character was killed off but his body never surfaced. Robert returned on November 15 to 22, 1995, as Scorpio's spirit. He was giving comfort to his daughter Robin whose boyfriend Stone Cates was dying of AIDS-related illness. Robin found that she herself was also HIV-positive. In retrospect I suppose the explanation would be that Robin was dreaming or hallucinating since her father was still living.
Rogers returned to GH for a short time from January 27, 2006, untill March 1. This is when everyone realized Robert was very much alive. The fans love the Aussie super spy and always enjoy when he is on screen. Viewers enjoy how Robert mixes humor with sharp wit and perhaps this is why Tristan Rogers continued to return to the ABC daytime drama. He reprised his role on April 13, 2006 but left again on November 16, of tha.t same year . From August 5, 2008 through October 21, 2008, Rogers took his character to the second season of SOAPnet's General Hospital: Night Shift. This was a prime time spin-off of the daytime soap where Scorpio's daughter Robin played a significant role. Rogers was in 12 of the season's 14 episodes, and Soap Opera Digest deemed him their "Best Return" of 2008.
On December 22, 2008, Tristen Rogers returned to General Hospital for four episodes and attended Robin's wedding to Dr. Patrick Drake. Robert Scorpio showed up again in Port Charles in March 2012, following the departure of Kimberly McCullough who portrayed his on screen daughter Robin. The dashing Aussie spy showed up yet again in Port Charles on November 15, 2012 and remained until December 18 of that year. Rogers reprised the role of Robert Scorpio once more beginning on October 4, 2013 but left on January 30, 2014 so he could return to The Young and the Restless where he portrayed Colin Atkinson.
In October 2015 it was announced that Rogers would be working on both soaps. There were times when he could be seen on both soaps on the same day to the delight of his many fans. The actor left General Hospital again on February 2, 2016. and returned that summer for a brief stint, from August 26 to September 9, of that year. In March 2018, Soap Opera Digest reported that RTristen Rogers would return to General Hospital, and he showed up a month later on April 13. He stayed until June 1, but returned on July 27, 2018. In January 2019, Soaps.com reported that Rogers would be returning full time on contract status during the week of January 28.
Robert Scorpio is still going strong and has been promoted to the position of Port Charles, DA. Who would have ever guessed that he had a college degree that would qualify him for such a position. he recently had an adventure where Olivia Falconeri went along as his bond girl, so who knows what the future might hold for these two. Tristan Rogers has been married to Teresa Parkerson since 21 May 1995 and they have two children. Their daughter Sara Jane was born on August 25 1992 and son Cale came along in August of 1996. Congratulations Tristan Rogers on a wonderful career and may you have many more decades of entertaining your fans.
