Daytime television loses another legend-One Life to Live actress Andrea Evans

Evans is the third soap vet to pass away since May.

Another daytime legend has passed away

In December 2022 popular General Hospital actress Sonya Eddie (Epiphany Johnson) passed away due to an infection that developed after surgery, The world of daytime television has lost 3 additional beloved actors since May whose characters are highly thought of and recalled fondly. Jackie Zeman who played Nurse Bobbie Spencer on General Hospital since 1977 died from cancer on May 9th at age 70. Yesterday news came that All My Children cast member Jeffrey Carlson who portrayed Freddie Luper whose stage name was Zarf passed away on July 6. He became the first transgender character on Daytime when Zarf began identifying as a woman and changed his name to Zoe Luper Carlson was only 48 years old.

Today TMZ, People, and other news outlets reported another ABC soap vet Andrea Evans died at her home at the age of 66. Longtime soap fans will recall this popular actress appearing on series on all three major networks. Her death was reported by Casting Director Don Carroll who said she passed away from cancer. Evans was born in Aurora, Illinois on June 18, 1957. and she began participating in Beauty pageants, theater and commercials at an early age. Her career began when she was cast as an extra in Brian De Palma’s 1978 horror classic The Fury.

Evans is best known for her character Tina Lord

She is best known for and became a household name following her breakout role as troubled teenager Tina Lord on ABC's One Life To Live. Evans received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Ingenue in a Drama Series for her role as the larger-than-life Tina and she portrayed that character from 1978 to 1981 and again from 1985 to 1990. She returned to OLTL in 2008 and 2011.

From July 1983–October 1984 Andrea Evans portrayed Patty Williams on the CBS soap The Young and the Restless. She next played Tawny Moore on CBS's sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful from March 1999–June 2000; and December 2010–June 2011. Evans returned to Y&R as Tawny for one episode on May 12, 201o. Evans disappeared for a decade

Evans abruptly quit One Life to Live in January 1990 and was not seen in public for close to a decade. Years later, she revealed that she disappeared to escape a stalker who was so persistent he broke into the ABC studios in New York City, intent on killing her. This was downplayed in the news and on-screen on One Life to Live, Tina moved to California after her divorce from long-time love interest Cord Roberts (John Loprieno). Tina and Cord were fan favorites and considered by some to be a super couple. The character of Tina returned to OLTL but former Playboy Playmate Karen Witter was cast in the role.

She was in the 1978 television miniseries The Awakening and in 1984 she was in the television film Arch of Triumph and in 2 feature films 199r's A Low Down Dirty Shame and 1996's The Icecream Man. She also appeared She was also in the 2012 feature films Hit List and Her last known role was as Vivian Prince in the 2014 web series DeVanity.

Evans was briefly married to One Life to Live costar Wayne Massey (who played Tina's love interest Johnny Drummond) in 1981. Evans married Los Angeles attorney Steve Rodriguez on January 10, 1998; the couple adopted a daughter in 2004.
