Days of Our Lives: A holiday right out of the Twilight Zone

Soaps.com has a video promo for Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas. The film will air on December 16 on the Peacock streaming service and the preview suggests some things are not as they seem with Salemites. The action in the movie is not par with what is currently taking place on the NBC daytime drama and there are many surprises. Just as they did with the DOOL 5 e3pisode spin-off in September (also on Peacock), the information about the movie is coming out a little at a time.

It seems that Will Horton's (Chandler Massey) screenplay has some twists and turns related to the good people of Salem including Eileen Davidson returning as Kristen DiMera. Stacy Haiduk has recently been playing the dual roles of Kristen and Susan Banks but for the 5 episode miniseries Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, Davidson stepped back into the role she originated. She will reprise her version of Kristen for A Very Salem Christmas and viewers should be prepared for a shock.

John and Kristen the nightmare before the holiday

A very Salem Christmas: Kristen is naughty by nature

In the preview, John Black (Drake Hogystein) seems to be running an Inn and calls out for his "Honey" to tell him where the guest book is. It is Kristan rather than Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) who gives it to him and they both are wearing the same ugly Christmas sweater. At the end of the promo and out of breath Kristen shouts "Merry freaking Christmas!" She is only shown from the chest up and appears to be in bed. It looks like this could be a sex scene and might involve John or Eric Brady ( Greg Vaughn).

In an earlier video, Kristen was shown lying in bed in a negligee asking Father Eric if he wanted to do a sequel. If indeed she seduces him during Christmas there would probably be an outcry from a number of fans who would consider this inappropriate. The good news is that there is an image from the film of John, Marlena, and Sami Brady (Allison Sweeney) standing together, possibly in Salem square and looking rather happy. Perhaps Will has a change of heart and everything works out in the end.

A Very Salem Christmas: Will Horton's fantasy comes to life

In the clip, Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) points out that holiday movies are always about love and take place in small towns. Will then asks “What’s a good love story without a few twists and turns?”

He delivers just that by having a goofy-looking Zander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) wearing geeky glasses and asking Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) if he can help him. Leo responds as only he would with "I want to answer that in so many ways." EJ Dimera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Nicole Walker (Ariana Zucker) are shown taking SydneyDimeri (actress unknown) to visit Sami, which probably would not happen in the real Salem without the two women fighting. Paulina Price (Jackie Harry) is shown with a white streak in her hair and looks like Cruella Deville as she laughs with "a villainous cackle".

Soaps.com says there is a scene where Will, Sonny, and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) all seem to be in drag and Chanel Dupree ( Raven Bowens) is kissing Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams). I watched the video 3 times and did not notice these scenes. I did take note that Marlena seems like her old self as she looks to the sky and says “We’re going to need some help down here,” “Maybe even a Christmas miracle".

A Very Salem Christmas appears to be a fantasy from the head of Will Horton and does not have anything to do with the storylines on Days of Our Lives. The 5 part series and now the film seems to be a way to utilize the connection between NBC and Peacock. This also allows the writers to create scenes that they could not air on the daytime drama. Be on the lookout for additional updates and don't forget to tune in on December 16.
