Cursed Deserves a Second Season and Here's Why

It’s November, which of course means one thing. No, not the start of Christmas decorating (although that is important as well). No, what I’m talking about here is Netflix coming out with their renewed and canceled shows list. It's the annual list that leaves fans either jumping for joy or looking for the nearest table to flip over.

Disclaimer: Please don’t flip over any tables. They’re expensive.

We already got word about some of the obvious renewals like The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill, and just yesterday getting word that we will in fact be getting another year of Emily in Paris starring Lilly Collins. However, there is still one other show that has become popular in its own right, and that fans are eagerly awaiting news from. That show is Cursed.

Starring 13 Reasons Why’s Katherine Langford, Vikings’ Gustaf Skarsgård, Devon Terrell as Arthur, and Medici's, Daniel Sharman as the Weeping Monk, fans have already become highly invested in the fantastical series. Based on the novel written by Thomas Wheeler and illustrated by Frank Miller, the series delivers a different take on the popular King Arthur story we've all become accustomed to; with its a major focus on Nimue, the Lady of the Lake, and her journey in discovering who she is, all while taking down some nasty Paladins in the process.

There's no denying how love for the show has been a cacophony of so many fans expressing where exactly they would like to see it go. How they want each character to develop and grow. All the way down to, what relationships they want to see blossom. Not to mention the stunning visuals that have us captivated, and stellar cast that we’ve basically already fallen in love with…Cursed is definitely a show that has already built itself a loyal fanbase that is vocally demanding a second season.

So, while we all eagerly wait for Netflix’s decision to come in, and we stay in our clenched positions like we're in a never-ending yoga class, here is why Cursed deserves a second season.

The Visuals

I'm a sucker for beautiful visuals. If I can watch something and feel transported to a world away from the one I'm in, it already has me. When it comes to that, they have fantastically nailed it. From the beautiful CGI, to just the naturally breathtaking landscapes of the various filming locations in the UK, there is no shortage of breath-taking sights to feed our eyes.

The Cast

With a cast like this, how can it go wrong? We have Katherine delivering a badass, “I will not take any shit” portrayal of Nimue. Devon Terrell giving us soft, swoon-worthy Arthur vibes. Gustaf giving us a wacky portrayal of Merlin we never knew we needed, but are all the more grateful for having seen it…It only took one episode for each of them to reel us in. Please don't take them from us, Netflix.

On a side note: I want to take a moment to express my love for how they cast a woman that isn’t your typical super skinny warrior queen. It was so refreshing to see a relatable woman’s body just out there kicking ass and being the badass queen she is.

The Weeping Monk

Look, I won't sit here and lie to you. You've probably heard a few things about the Weeping Monk and I just want you to know, it's all true. As viewers, we watched and we fell hard for the hooded assassin, with so much internalized trauma that it might have left us wanting to wrap him in a blanket, with a hot cup of freshly brewed chamomile tea. *Stefon voice* This character has everything. Mystery, intensity, emo vibes, an innate need to protect children. Eyeliner(!)

I won't give too much away, in case some of you haven't watched it yet or aren't far into the season. But if you are someone who loves the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda dynamic, this will definitely be your cup of tea.

Morgana

Again, I won’t get into specifics just in case but... holy crazy plot twist, Batman! Just…How!? Why!? We need answers.

All the ships

via tumblr

As it is with every show, the fandom has begun speculating about what ships could come from the series, should it get renewed. Will Nimue and L- I mean a certain someone, deliver the enemies to lovers trope some are looking for? Will our lovely Pym finally find the love she deserves, after loss? Will Nimue and Arthur’s relationship progress?... These are questions we need answers to.

So, there you have it. Just a few, amongst many, reasons why Cursed deserves a second season. Now, let us all go back to manifesting that this actually happens.
