The cat is out of the bag, and it is not what fans of Greenleaf expected. Craig Wright created Delilah just as he created Greenleaf that ended on August 11, 2020 after five seasons. Delilah will be released in 2021 as an entirely different series that is not affiliated with Greenleaf at all. The only two things both series have in common are their creator and their network.

Wright is the executive producer and writer of the upcoming series. Charles Randolph-Wright and Cheryl Dunye serve as directors. Randolph-Wright, who worked on Greenleaf will also be an executive producer along with Oprah Winfrey.

Wright said, “It’s an honor to work for Ms. Winfrey and OWN and to serve the network’s devoted fans. The new series will continue the work we started on Greenleaf to bring untold stories and fresh perspectives to our audience.”

Mystery of the "Delilah Clip"

During the finale of the last season of Greenleaf, the network teased viewers by flashing a very short clip titled Delilah. Fans went crazy speculating that it was the name of a spinoff for Greenleaf that is in the works.

Some fans came up with their own story that Lady Mae would be like the biblical Delilah whose story is in the Book of Judges, Chapter 16. She tricked Samson into giving her the secret of his strength. After he revealed it to her, she told the Philistines who captured Samson and cut off his hair. He lost his strength. They blinded him. When Samson's hair grew back, he regained his strength and pulled down the columns in the arena and everybody perished.

Viewers can now put their speculations to rest as they look forward to seeing a brand new series.

About "Delilah"

According to Variety, the drama series Delilah is about a woman who has the leading role that is nothing like the biblical Delilah. The series is centered around a female attorney named Delilah who lives and works by principles and her faith.

Delilah Connolly is played by Maahra Hill as a strong lawyer living in Charlotte, North Carolina. She tries hard to raise her two children and her nephew alone. She works to get justice for those who need it at a time when the wealthy and powerful people of her town will do anything to stop the headstrong lawyer.

Delilah does all that in addition to dealing with her ex-husband. She is about to go up against her best friend and confidante Tamara in court for the first time. Therefore, their friendship is on the line while both of them are powerful attorneys who want to win the case.

Tina Perry, president of OWN said, “Our viewers are going to deeply relate to this series that focuses on a powerful woman who is committed to her family, friends, and her community.”

About Maahra Hill

If Maahra Hill looks familiar to you, it is because she has appeared in guest roles on several of our favorites television shows, such as Black-ish, Chance, Jane the Virgin, How to Get Away with Murder, The L Word: Generation Q, Pearson, Life in Pieces, Speechless, and Melissa & Joey.

If you watch Deliliah when it premieres next year, you will see much more of Hill as she stars in the leading role.

Now We Know

Fans should be glad they now know what the brief clip during the season's finale of Greenleaf was all about. Even though it is not a spinoff about the Greenleaf family, viewers will enjoy the series just as much. It might be another hit for those who love Craig Wright's work.
