Jacob ElyacharPublished 7 years ago in GeeksSuicide Squad
Suicide Squad was one of the most talked about and hyped about films in 2016. With superhero franchises and crossovers on the rise in cinema, it's very easy to see why. The film is about a team of dangerously crazy villains completing missions under the direction of Amanda Walker in exchange for reduced prison sentences and privileges. Before we get fully started on this review, I feel that I should say that I have not read any of the Suicide Squad comics, but I do know some of the characters from DC Comics. I saw it twice in the cinema and seen it several times with friends at home.

It is hard to believe that 2017 will end in three months! DC Comics is pulling out all of the stops for its December 2017 storylines. Now, GEEKS has its take on some of the hottest storylines that will make DC Comics fans wish that they would receive comics in their holiday grab bags.

It's been almost a year and a half since Zack Snyder brought the world's two most famous superheroes, Batman and Superman, together on the big screen for the first time ever in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it seems that even now, the film is still the subject of fiery debates between its many critics and supporters. There seems to be little middle ground when it comes to this film; people seem to either vehemently hate it or believe it to be a masterpiece within the comic book film genre. Since it premiered in theaters on March 25th of last year, critics have been outspoken about the many flaws they consider the film to have, some of which have merit and others which point to a complete misunderstanding of the film's major themes and overall message.
Matthew FratiPublished 7 years ago in GeeksHow Can DC Save Their Movie Universe?
If you’re reading this then the likelihood is that you’ve seen at least a portion of the movies on offer from Marvel and DC. If that is the case then you’ll be very aware of the disparity in quality that exists between the two cinematic universes. DC have been lagging behind for some time now with stale offering after stale offering and seemingly no idea how to break out of their tailspin. These are just a few suggestions of how to fix things.
Shaun PondPublished 7 years ago in GeeksIs The Joker the Greatest Villain in Comic Books?
If you ask the average person who the best villain is in the world of comic books they will likely all answer with the same name, The Joker. He is a juggernaut on both the printed page and the big screen, garnering more attention than any other baddie that has come before or after him. But is he truly the greatest villain in all of comics?
Shaun PondPublished 7 years ago in GeeksOMG Ben Affleck's Decided to Be Robin!
My younger brother gets really frustrated at times with regards to news about his favourite football team. To the point that sometimes, me and the rest of my family, genuinely question how much emotion he’s pouring into following a passion of his. But in the past few days, I’ve come to realise that perhaps it’s a little hypocritical of me to reprimand him for his behaviour given my own feelings about my passion.

Jacob ElyacharPublished 7 years ago in GeeksJon Kent; The True Tragic Hero of 'Man of Steel'
There are a few problems with the Man of Steel movie. Many that have been hashed and rehashed at ad nauseam. There is one that I feel needs to be looked at a little more closely. That is the adaptation of Jon Kent as a character. Jon is Clark’s adoptive human father and the pillar of morals in Clark’s life. Jon Kent was nothing more than a normal, red blooded, average American man, trying to raise his alien son and help him to become the hero that we all know and love.
Kimberly MesserPublished 7 years ago in Geeks'Justice League': What the Superhero Epic Needs to Succeed
Warners Bros. released the second trailer to its upcoming superhero epic "Justice League" over the weekend at the San Diego Comic Con. Running around four-minutes long, the trailer showcased the epic team-up of Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and The Flash. While Superman's presence was certainly looming over the trailer, his actual physical presence was not (there is still no sign of his mullet).
DC Universe's Supersons – Vol. 1
From the very moment I opened the comic to the first page, I was hooked. Initially, I came across Supersons because of the YouTube channel ComicsExplained. I highly recommend it for any and everyone who's interested in both Marvel and DC universes. That aside, the story of Supersons centers around Damian Wayne and Jonathan Kent, sons of our favorite heroes Batman and Superman.
Anecia LewisPublished 7 years ago in GeeksBatman v. Superman's Islamaphobic Message
For the record, I wouldn't be discussing this film if I didn't think there was anything new to say about it. Removing myself from the hordes on both sides, arguing as to whether this a good or bad film — although I decidedly resign myself to the latter — I want to address ultimate failing of this adaptation. However, in order to do that, we must address why other films of the same genre have resonated with us before after. Films such as Iron Man (2008), The Dark Knight (2008) and Logan (2017).
