Okay, everyone has heard of the Justice League in one way or another. Either through an array of comic books like myself, or most notably the vast amount of tv shows and movies that have been released in the past few years. But just in case you have not been privy to such information, let me give you the breakdown of the JLA. The JLA( Justice League of America) are a group of superheroes who band together to stop a pending threat, particularly apocalyptic events. The team is made of the man of steel... Superman, the dark knight... Batman, the fastest man alive... The Flash, the cybernetically enhanced Cyborg and the amazonian princess Wonder Woman.

We were given a Justice League film back in 2017 directed by Joss Whedon and Zack Snyder. The film revolves around the formation of the superheroes, banding together to fight a foe named Stepphenwolf, who is on a mission to destroy and reform Earth in his image. And as hard as the DCEU tried to provide a worthy superhero film on par with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film sadly failed at that attempt. But just as things began to seem grim for the DCEU franchise, Zack Synder announced his intention to release his original concept of the film two years after the original film. The film was highly anticipated by fans globally, and as promised by Zack Snyder, it did not disappoint. If you are a comic book fan, or just fan of superheroes and have a desire to see what DCEU is capable of, I urge you to see the movie. It had action, intrigue, drama as well as a more fleshed out story than the original, giving better storylines to the characters, particularly Cyborg and Wonder Woman, who were merely plot devices in the original.

I understand some people may feel like they are being weighed down by the sheer number of superhero movies, but I urge you to take a little chunk out of your day( did I forget to mention its 4 hours long.I know but I assure you, its worth it), relax, order a pizza, get some drinks, maybe invite some of your boys or girls(the movie can be enjoyed emphatically by both) and have a wonderful watching experience. The inclusion of new characters in the Snyder cut, just made the film all the better showing scenarios that rounded out the film in the end, and included storylines that comic book nerds like myself found highly entertaining and just elevated my nerdiness. It definitely gave the audience what they expected from DCEU.

If superheroes aren’t the way you wish to spend the evening, looking for something more intimate to enjoy with your significant other, or by yourself if you just require a good love story to prove that love actually exists, then The Waitress is definitely one for you.

. The film centers around the main character Jenna, an amazing pie baker ( played by the remarkable Keri Russell), who manages to get herself in a bit of a situation after unintentionally falling pregnant by her husband whom she was planning to leave, derailing all her plans for escape. As romantic movies go, this happens to be high on my list. It contains comedic timing within the dramatic situations, elevating the performances of the actors. It makes you sympathize with the characters and their hardships, giving the audience perspective of their own lives and helping you understand each person is fighting their own battles that you don’t see. The comedy of the film was only heightened by the performance of Nathan Fillion who plays Jenna’s doctor during her pregnancyThe Waitress is an emotional rollercoaster for the audience, as Jenna goes through monumental moments in her life that leaves you hugging the closest object near you for comfort, and as emotionally wrecking as that is, it ends in such a way as to give the audience hope that in the end all things will work out as they should. The film was done so well, they moved it to Broadway turning it into an award winning musical, so if you can’t take my word on it’s greatness, all I can say is the proof is in the pudding. So take my advice and watch the film, I promise your heart will be touched in the end.

Every now and again, I will crave watching a tv series as opposed to movies because in a tv series they have enough time and freedom to flesh out the entire storyline and characters. Tv series are allowed to have more elements that would usually be cut when making a movie. If you are looking for a new show to binge, one that is great for a Saturday night in, with or without company and one that hits all the major criteria : Entertainment, representation, comedy, drama and some eye candy. Look no further, for your viewing pleasure I give you Orphan Black.

Every now and again, I will crave watching a tv series as opposed to movies because in a tv series they have enough time and freedom to flesh out the entire storyline. Tv series are allowed to have more elements that would usually be cut when making a movie to save time and money. If you are looking for a new show to binge, that is bound to get your blood pumping, with or without company, and one that hits all the major criteria : Entertainment, representation, comedy, drama and some eye candy. Look no further, for your viewing pleasure I give you... Orphan Black.

Orphan Black is an intriguing tv show revolving around Sarah Manning, a British grunge outcast, who witnesses a suicide at a train station. A suicide by an individual who looked exactly like her, leaving completely stunned. She then chooses to take over her look-alikes life to learn more about the situation, ensuing a catastrophic domino effect in her life when she finally learns that things are more complicated than she imagined. The entire concept of the show revolves around the ethics of cloning and the potential repercussions if such a feat were possible.

You have not seen great acting until you have witnessed Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black. Her range is phenomenal and rarely seen in actors nowadays. She portrayed 14 clones in the show's initial run, with each clone having different mannerisms and personalities resulting in you actually believing Tatiana Maslany may have been cloned to do the show..

We have all watched some show or movie in which a character was cloned (i.e Days of our lives). But nothing has been done that is on par with this show. The comedic timing within the show is superb, especially by Sarah’s foster brother Felix, portrayed by the talented Jordan Gavaris, who gives most of the show's best witty one-liners. Show focuses on the importance of family, loyalty and love, all aspects found by Sarah in the unlikeliest places, with the unlikeliest of people. So if you are looking for something to watch, that will have the thrill of an action series, the wit and comedy of a veteran show and the ability to tag at your heartstrings and leave you wanting a clone of yourself, Orphan Black is here for you. Action, suspense, romance and a show led by mostly women on the call sheet how much more do you need to be convinced, it caters to all demographics. So make your snack and sit down and enjoy the ride of a show you didn’t know you needed.
