Discover the origins of the Blade Runner Division.

On the trail of an experimental Replicant, Detective Cal Moreaux becomes the hunted.

One of the aspects to this that I am really enjoying is that the Replicants are not as organised or as streamlined as they could be. They prove how humanlike they are with their faults being highlighted. It is the early stages of them becoming organised and they’ve got to learn along the way and that we see this so incredibly clearly is something I for one greatly appreciate. They may be a different species but they are made by humans and they are all too human at the end of the day.

The more we get into this series the more involved, invested and engaged we become in this world and with these characters. Part of me roots for Cal to solve this and turn the tables upon his hunters while another part of me, the part that’s been marginalised my entire life, understands and empathises with the Replicants but feels the radical way they are going about their cause is the wrong way to do it. That I do think that I am this engaged in what I see is a strong reason for my own personal connection to the book and it’s something they’ve managed to do in a short amount of time.

I am a huge fan of the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter does this sensational job of keeping their evolving personalities at the forefront. The pacing is excellent and as it takes us through the pages revealing more and more of the story the more we want to get lost in this world.

I greatly appreciate the way that we see this being structured as well as how the layers within the story continue to emerge, grow, evolve and strengthen. The layers open up new avenues to be explored and in turn this adds depth, dimension and complexity to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is impeccably achieved.

The interiors here are bloody gorgeous. The linework is exceptional and how we see the varying weights and techniques being utilised to create this level & quality in the attention to detail is simply stunning to view. I rather appreciate how we see backgrounds being incorporated into the panels to not only enhance and expand the moments but to work within the composition of the panels which brings out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkable eye for storytelling. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows a masterful eye for how colour works. I mean how we see the shading in the faces to show definition and musculature.

This is my favourite book of the franchise. It is just at that state of strength of storytelling that surpasses so much else that’s out there right now. The sheer amount of complexity within the story itself and the amount of moving parts we see that have such pinpoint accuracy in how we see them is impressive to say the least. This is sensationally written with strong and spirited characterisation alongside these zestful interiors bringing this to life. There’s no doubt why this is one of today’s more interesting and intriguing reads.
