Alex Trebek's final week of Jeopardy!'

Game show host Alex Trebek passed away from pancreatic cancer on Nov. 8, 2020, at age 80. He worked until just 10 days before his death in spite of the toll that the disease and it's treatments were taking on him. The final new "Jeopardy!" episodes that he hosted will air during the week of January 4-8. There will be memorable highlights from the past that are sure to please fans of the show. According to a producer from Sony Pictures Television, the first of the final episodes will air Monday with Trebek offering a "powerful message about the season of giving." The final episode, which airs on Friday, will conclude with a beautiful tribute to the beloved, longtime Jeopardy!' host.

Trebek was a longtime activist and philanthropist and was active with multiple charities. These include United States Service Organizations, For World Vision, and World Vision Canada. Trebek traveled the world seeking Jeopardy!' contestants and spent time on many military bases to bring morale to the troops. He was awarded an Access Award from the American Foundation for the Blind because of his role in accommodating Jeopardy! champion Eddie Timanus who was sight-impaired. For 25 years Alex Trebek was the host of the National Geographic Bee in the United States. He left this position in 2013.

Alex Trebek put his money to good use by assisting many worthwhile causes. In 2016, he donated $5 million to the University of Ottawa. This money was to fund the Alex Trebek Forum for Dialogue, The purpose of the Dialogue was "to expose students to a wide range of diverse views, through speeches, public panels, events and lectures by University of Ottawa researchers, senior government officials and guests speakers from around the world." Trebek's donations to the university also set up a fund for a Distinguished Speaker Series.

In 2017, the game show host funded the Alex Trebek Leadership Award at the University of Ottawa. This was an annual $10,000 award to a summa cum laude graduate who also demonstrated community leadership skills. By the time he passed away, Trebek had contributed more than $10 million to the University of Ottawa. In March 2020, Trebek donated $100,000 to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter in Los Angele

Alex Trebek was born George Alexander Trebek on July 22, 1940, in Canada. He became a naturalized United States citizen in 1998. he hosted Jeopardy for 37 years from 1984 until his death. he was also the host of a number of other game shows which included Double Dare, Battlestars, The Wizard of Odds, High Rollers, To Tell the Truth, and Classic Concentration. He won a Daytime Emy for Outstanding Game Show Host 7 timed for Jeopardy!'. Trebek bravely fought cancer for 2 years and said his desire was to finish out his contract on Jeopardy!' which ended in 2022.

The game show host said he believed he could do it and retire, but sadly, this did not come to pass for him. A permanent host for the show has not yet been named, but during the interim, Ken Jennings, a Jeopardy!' champion will be the guest host beginning January 11. Jennings was born onMay 23, 1974. In addition to being a game show host he is an author and a consultant. Jennings holds the record of being the highest-earning American game show contestant of all time. He also holds the record for the longest winning streak on Jeopardy! Ken Jennings had 74 consecutive wins and holds the record for the highest average for correct responses per game in Jeopardy! history. His total earnings on the game show are $4,522,70
