11 Things Marvel Comics Fans Want to See in Movie Form

Since Marvel Comics was originally introduced as Timely Comics in 1939, the comic company has been all the rage. Today, Marvel fans still rave about both print and electronic versions of their favorite vintage and modern superhero comic books.

It wasn't until 2008 that Marvel Studios came up with their new media sector, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and created the first Marvel comic in film form, Iron Man. To date, Marvel Studios has had a total of 20 films in the box office, and has several films currently in production.

Although certain things Marvel comics fans want to see in movie form don't always properly depict the comic they're based off of, having the option to see your favorite superheroes and villains in theaters gives fans an opportunity to truly grasp the visual and aural aspects of their favorite characters and storylines.

While, so far, Marvel has raked in approximately $17.53 billion from the movies they've released, and have also given moviegoers juicy content, there are things fans want to see at the theaters that we may, or may not, ever get to witness.

Happy and Pepper Potts' Relationship

Virginia "Pepper" Potts first appeared in Marvel's scope in Tales of Suspense #45, which was released in September of 1963. Not long after, she became the secretary for Tony Stark's company, and the two became interested in one another. Admittedly though, Stark kept his distance.

Later down the road, Pepper Potts ended up marrying Happy Hogan, which eventually ended in divorce. Oddly enough, even though Pepper and Happy's relationship was kind of a big deal (I mean, come on, they said "I do"), we never see their relationship in the MCU.

However, in Iron Man, Happy and Pepper are both present. Rather then having the two of them being together, Pepper and Tony Stark are. In fact, in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tony almost proposed to Pepper toward the end of the film, solidifying the influence of women power in the MCU. That said, it's likely we'll never see Pepper and Happy together in a Marvel film.

The Superior Spider Man

The 33-issue comic book series that ran from January 2013 to June 2014, The Superior Spider Man, was one of Marvel's most questionably received comics series ever created. In this comic, Doctor Octopus takes over Spider Man's body and becomes Superior Spider Man. This led to fans longing for Peter Parker to come back.

Eventually, Marvel did, in fact, bring back Peter Parker. While The Superior Spider Man was controversial, some Marvel fans are interested in seeing him on the silver screen. Due to his backlash though, it's likely that fans won't ever get that opportunity.

Dracula

Since the 1960s, fictional super villain Dracula has played a massive role in the Marvel universe. In fact, Dracula's Marvel character is based on Bram Stoker's character Count Dracula from the 1897 gothic horror novel.

The Marvel version of Dracula, however, didn't appear until 1951. Thanks to the efforts made by Doctor Strange, Dracula was removed from Marvel when the hero destroyed all vampires on Earth. Later on though, he was revived by Hydra. This fact means that Dracula's return could make for an excellent plot on the big screen.

There's little chance we will be seeing Marvel's Dracula in the MCU, sadly. Because Dracula is in the public domain, Marvel (or anyone) would not be able to copyright him. Thus, creating a movie where he appears in the MCU would essentially be unoriginal.

Captain Marvel in Avengers: Age of the Ultron

At the end of one of our favorite Avengers movies, Avengers: Age of the Ultron, fans expected to see Captain Marvel introduced alongside Scarlet Witch, The Vision, and Falcon. However, that just didn't happen. While that missing scene may not be a big deal to some, for other fans, it was.

According to Joss Whedon, director of Age of the Ultron, he decided to cut out the scene for a plausible reason. He figured the end scene would be too confusing for viewers if they saw a new character mixed in with old characters. Eh, fair enough.

Namor the Sub-Mariner

Fantastic Four ally, Namor the Sub-Mariner, was one of Marvel Comics' first noteworthy villains. Namor was both a good and a bad guy, as he was part of both The Cabal and the Illuminati. Despite his flexibility as a character though, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to include him in movie format.

Some Marvel fans are anxiously awaiting Namor the Sub-Mariner's appearance on film, and there's no doubt that there are ways Namor the Sub-Mariner could join the MCU. And well, there's good news! According to Kevin Feige, while things are still up in the air in terms of Marvel's rights for using the character, Namor may have a future MCU appearance.

Thor and the Hulk in Captain America: Civil War

Many Marvel lovers were disheartened to see that Thor and the Hulk were not involved in Captain America: Civil War. While we got to see Iron Man, Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Vision, War Machine, and many other of our favorite Marvel characters, Thor and Hulk's absence just felt strange.

Screenwriter Christopher Markus had an explanation: "You put those guys in a fight, it's over quickly... You've got to kind of choose your roster depending on what kind of fight you want to have."

Although having Hulk and Thor in the MCU film would have been nice, the explanation does make sense. The epic battle would have been finished not long after it started had either of them been on one side or another. While this may be true, surely there is something the screenwriters could have done to un-sideline Hulk and Thor.

Phil Coulson Reunites with the Avengers in Avengers 4

We'll see Marvel character Phil Coulson in the 2019 MCU movie, Captain Marvel. However, Marvel fans were hoping to see him get reunited with the Avengers in Avengers 4, also known as Avengers: Endgame, which will also be released in 2019.

Unfortunately, it appears that we might not get to see their reunion before Coulson gets resurrected on TV in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Rumor has it though that time travel may be a possibility in Avengers 4, allowing past characters to make an appearance in the film.

Molecule Man

If you recall Marvel's character, Molecule Man, who made his first appearance in Fantastic Four #20 in November of 1963, you probably remember that he was one of Marvel's most powerful creations.

Molecule Man, who was frequently portrayed as a super villain, had the power to mentally manipulate molecules, hence his name.

While there are plenty of manipulators in the Marvel universe, Molecule Man not only could warp objects, but also realities and universes. This would make him too powerful for a Marvel movie. However, it would be intriguing to see how the MCU would execute his character.

Star Wars Crossovers

Star Wars crossovers are one of the many things Marvel and Star Wars fans alike want to see. Fans long for it so much that Generation Tech even made an April Fool's video in 2018 announcing a "Star Wars Marvel Crossover" that was never actually going to happen. Which, rude.

While it's still a possibility there will be a Marvel-Star Wars crossover in theaters (or at least in comics), we should let this possibility rest for now, as to not excite ourselves too much.

She-Hulk in a Solo Movie

She-Hulk, alter ego of Jennifer Walters, is one of the greatest heroines in Marvel history. We first met the female version of Hulk in Savage She-Hulk #1, released in February of 1980. Since then, she has been deemed the physically strongest female Marvel character to have ever existed.

Unfortunately, we have yet to witness She-Hulk in a solo Marvel movie; though, the heroine did appear on TV, being involved in two failed She-Hulk TV projects. Additionally, a motion picture was planned for her in the early 1990s. To our despair, the film was never completed, but the hope that she is one of the female characters we should see soon in the MCU remains.

Thor and Valkyrie's Relationship

Thor and Valkyrie's on-screen romance is, again, one of the things Marvel comics fans want to see in movie form. Unfortunately though, Thor and Valkyrie's relationship never really made it on the big screen when they had a decent opportunity to allude to it.

We've witnessed the strong chemistry the duo had on screen; however, it looks like we were led on. Valkyrie wasn't even present in Avengers: Infinity Wars, and whether she will fight alongside Thor in Avengers 4 is still not clear.
