10 Reasons Why I Love English Shows

I have always been in love with foreign TV shows, and movies. My first one I ever saw was Bram Stoker's Dracula which came out on DVD in 1992. I fell in love with Romania because there was a lot of rich history. Vlad the III also known as Vlad the Impaler is also known to the citizens of Romanian as a National hero for protecting the gorgeous lands of Romania from the Ottoman Turks.

I used to have a copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula that an AP English Teacher gave me. I let a friend of mine borrow it and he never gave it back to me. It hurt me so much because that copy meant the world to me. I read that copy ten times. It was the best old copy I ever had. Ever since then I never got another copy, nor let anyone borrow my books again.

American TV shows' plots are the same old plots, and twists. As far as American TV shows go I have seen it all, no unique screenwriting, nothing.

These are the ten reasons why I love English shows:

1: Each plot is unique, never seen before for me: The first time I saw the TV show Outlander for example the unique plots, great villains, the struggles with Claire, and Jamie but love keeping them strong is empowering to me.

2: Villains that you love to hate: For TV shows in America there are no villains that the audience can hate. Which means the redeemed villain, and the villain that becomes the good guy/girl. The United Kingdom shows the villain stays the villain and you can’t help but hate them. The Character arc is to the point where the darkness is bleak.

3: A brief scenic location: Okay this is important to me most American TV shows always use unnecessary material, and have plot holes. The United Kingdom shows there are no plot holes, and the shows like Outlander, A discovery of Witches draw any fan in making you crave more.

4: More detailed Character arc: Depending on the tv the main character has a detailed character arc if reliant on the line of the show.

5: Not predictable: United Kingdom Shows think outside the box they are willing to take a chance. American TV if they aren’t comfortable with this they never take a chance even if it is unique.

6: Passionate performances: You can see how the actors and actresses are passionate about the acting gig. They really get involved with each scene putting all their soul into it. Maybe it’s because the British or Aussie actors and actresses have more experience because each place has been in the industry longer. (Just my opinion.)

7: The Audiences: When I see shows like Outlander, A discovery of Witches, and Killing Eve I love the scenes, the suspense, the passion. I think most people feel the same way it’s like when I watch these shows I am the actress in the show. That’s how good these performances are in my eyes.

8: Looking at these locations: I want to see these locations in person makes me question why my ancestors ever left England, and Scotland to come to America. (Just my opinion). These gorgeous places are so unique I never saw them, but I plan to.

9: English Shows coming to American tv: I am so happy these shows have come to America because then I wouldn’t have such a passion, and want to write about these places. I wouldn’t be so curious about the world just stuck in my own bubble. I don’t want any regrets, I wanna see the world because of all of these shows and movies.

10: Passion about the work: There are a lot of American actors and actresses that have to change with the industry, their bodies, everything that Judy Garland went through because of the industry. No one should have to change who they are. Judy Garland god rest her soul was pushed to her limit. In my opinion I don’t see that with English actors, and actresses.

And this is why I am passionate about United Kingdom TV shows, and how that passion grew.
