I've been on high-speed motorcycles and found the experience to be almost as real as the car racing games. There is also the issue of reproducing bikes dynamically on a controller, which can be very difficult. I remember playing TT : Isle of Man when it was released a few years ago. It was a great game and I still want it to work for me. Although the TT is so famous, it did not represent the speed of the event. I felt empty after purchasing it and then it was put aside to collect dust.

I had a chance to play MotoGP 2019 last season and it gave me hope. It also made me look forward to the yearly release of the franchise, which is released earlier than the MotoGP season starts. This will allow for more immersion for fans of the championships. It is important to have some experience with MotoGP 2020 before you can load it. It will be difficult for a complete novice to use the simulator as there are no tutorials or gentle guidance.

Although there are many assists and practice modes to make racing easier once you get used to the system, this may still be a problem for newcomers. But Milestone, a gaming studio, knows their audience well and will unapologetically put you in a game that forces you to learn as you go. The MotoGP 2020 graphics are the best. The textures look amazing and, after switching to Unreal Engine last year, the teething issues have been resolved.

Every bike on the real-life roster has been rendered photorealistically. Each decal is crisply rendered, as well as the post-race signs and physical wear. You won't have time to enjoy the stunning graphics because of the incredible speeds at which you travel, so you can focus on reaching the next apex.

It's a nice touch to switch to a Go-Pro style first-person camera view after a crash, which I have had to do more than once. It is amazing how detailed the bike's rear wheel loses grip when it is under heavy braking or struggles to traction is. Other aspects of the game are less polished. The facial models of human racers, managers and other players do not reflect the real-life appearance of the tracks and bikes.

You can see immediately that this is a racing simulator and not an arcade game. You will be tempted to believe that the HUD and colourful menu are a security feature. This game is hard. Even with all the assist turned on, this game is HARD.

You can't barrel into corners or break the trail at the last moment. To get around corners, you must master how to balance your bike and modulate the breaks. You will likely slip off the asphalt quite often your first few times. It is very satisfying to find the sweet spot as you begin to understand the mechanics of the game.

The game's many modes and features add a lot of replay value. I reviewed a pre-release copy, so I wasn't able to play the online multiplayer. However, I expect the online multiplayer to be just as good as the single-player offerings. It's a wonderful addition to be able to manage your team while you move from MotoGP 3 to the headline championship's. This mode allows you to work on the technical aspects of your bike and to employ experts to do R and D to improve the bikes' technological edge. It makes a significant difference in the vehicle's operation and, although it won't guarantee victory in every race, it does give you an edge. I now come to the point about the in-game AI. It is somewhat clumsy in lower difficulty modes.

It's not realistic to see 5 or more racers sliding off the track at one corner, like they have their helmets backwards. They will chase you down to each corner and resist your attempts to race. It can be hard to work through the pack, but it can also be very exciting and fun. You can replay modes such as historical racing, time trials and career, which almost makes it worth the initial price.

One aspect of the game I struggled with was the sound effects. This may just be subjective. The engine sounds are precise. They sound very accurate and reproduce the sounds of real racers. I was actually struggling with the buzzing and buzzing of lower-powered bikes so I had to reduce the engine effects. For me, the most disappointing aspect of the game is the aural component. The intense machinery that emits sound is not real weight.

Developers Milestone have created a highly accurate racer that is both for fans of the series and purists who enjoy driving sims with steep learning curves. It is worth persevering with, even though casual gamers or those who are used to the predictable nature of current car racing offerings might be put off initially. There are many options, and there is still so much to do once the initial baptism of fire has passed.

If this level is a regular occurrence in the franchise then I am excited about what MotoGP 2021 brings us next year. MotoGP 2020 is my favorite motorcycle racing game, by quite a bit.
