Oppera!

The painted whore of Taldor. Oppera!

Run out of money? Marry again honey. Oppera!

Crops in the dust, tools turned to rust? It’s a gala every night or bust! Oppera!

Peasants are poor and vile, slap on the Claim and pull out the Title. Oppera!

Rabble rousers row and regions recede? Then partake of distractions, or appoint a steed! Oppera!

She’ll suck up every single gold, that vamps drained the wine and left you cold. Oppera!

The papered rove and search about, for talent they can pluck and tout. You just keep plucking that G-String and stuffing that F-hole full of tickets out of Oppera!

While you grab what’s yours and don’t let the doors hit you on your way out of Oppera!

~Prism

LOVE ONLY BLOSSOMS ON A TENDED VIONE

Eyes they meet, shared breath so sweet.

Fingers touch, a sudden rush.

Sweet letters sent, with sentiment because,

Love only Blossoms on a tended vine

Your days now spent on betterment.

Once training hours alone, now your efforts are doubled with love.

With each minute you are near,

There is more proof your lover is stalwart, upright, and your peer.

Your lives forever intertwine.

A spellbook written with words of honor, passion, and empathy because

Love only blossoms on a tended vine.

The union is made in love and respect.

Yet that’s not the end, it’s just the outset!

Love must be built up, defended like life.

Fear, anger, jealousy, and strife.

Defeat all these enemies and live a blessed life!

For love only blossoms on a tended vine.

One day you’ll look back with words wise and worldly.

Teaching your children how to love and to be free.

You’ll tell them the story of how your love grew.

Of how it stayed strong when the odds turned against you.

You’ll teach them that love only blossoms on a tended vine!

PRISM

Due to the fact that a video game version of the module has been made, I feel fairly confident in saying Pathfinder’s Kingmaker is one of the more well-known RPG settings. About 5 years of game time played by previous characters was the original setting that this bard, Prism, entered into. We have wavered between having full groups of other players, to having no one else to play with which caused the uptick in additional material being created, like this and other songs, to fill up the gaps.

Prism’s original backstory (pathfinder specific) included her leaving Taldor after attending the Kitharodian academy (trait). She had been born in Galt and saw it as her only chance to escape the very old and very entrenched system Taldor had in place.

She hopped a ship and headed to a place she felt drawn to like a brilliant rainbow in her dream. The newly formed “kingdom” of Dalmasca. Locally known as the Kingdom of Song. It was so small it would hardly be a county in Taldor at this point, but it was magical, and filled with song, and the more she learned the more songs she wrote.

This song was created early, as a tavern call and repeat style song. The area that Prism relocated to has a very chaotic bend to it. It is also populated by mainly refugees from the surrounding larger kingdoms including Taldor, and the main faction is made up of displaced Cat-folk from Brevoi. So this song about Taldor’s bloated, waning capital city Oppera was well received.

The second song, Love Only Blossoms on a Tended Vine was written for an in-game wedding. Prism is a love-happy, wedding-obsessed bard, who will waive her fee for weddings. She loves to see happy couples!
