Prince of Persia Sands of Time (2003) / Ubisoft.

The Prince of Persia series has been going on for years, with it starting off as what seemed a very simple platforming game, it developed and branched into a series with a storyline, with twists and turns and plot twists.

The first game released to the Playstation 2 was Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The game started showing war, an image of a Prince wanting to impress his father, and an enemy that wouldn't be expected. The Vizier. The first game was thrilling, in 2003, although sales were not as high as expected, those who played the games, were thrilled with the acrobatic skills of the Prince, as well as how the story developed, coming to a conclusion at the end. A game with the perfect amount of emotions, action, and puzzles. First playing the game myself, all I could do was roll; I used to jump off cliffs but playing it more, helped me learn how to play it properly. The first game was already my favourite, despite the lack of a memory card and having to replay the tutorial over and over again...

After a long year, the second game to the series was released, Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within. From first look at the game, the Prince seems to have changed appearance; dark, serious and a disturbed, and of course, the music and the appearance of the game matched the Prince's disturbed look.

The game was released in 2004, and beforehand had many teasers of the different monsters, the new fighting style, as well as the idea of having two endings: a good ending and a bad. Warrior Within was a longer game, with unexpected happenings during the game, based on an island away from anywhere else, the Prince tries to rewrite his fate. Of course, there is an unlikely rival to try and stop the Prince. Seeing this game at first, scared me a little. I had no idea what to expect from the game. I didn't believe that this would be a second chapter to the Prince's life, but the game did in fact follow on from the first game, meaning more adventure alongside the Prince.

Warrior Within left a cliffhanger and hinted at the next game. However, no one knew what was coming. At the end of the second game, Prince left to his home, Babylon, but with the Prince's life, things are not as expected.

Prince of Persia Two Thrones. (2005) / Ubisoft.

The teaser of the third part of the series, showed a dark figure of what was the Prince, however I was happy to see that the disturbed character design of the Prince had gone once again. The Two Thrones released in 2005, and followed the story. With the Prince, changing his fate, he had rewritten time itself, and so the third game saw returns of old characters that were hated and loved. The Two Thrones also saw the return of the original voice actor of the Prince, Yuri Lowenthal, as well as a single ending to the game rather than the two endings. The game has unexpected events, and twists and turns, that make you just want to keep playing more!

After the third part, it seemed that Prince of Persia wasn't returning. With a very peaceful ending to the end of The Two Thrones, it seemed that the Prince wouldn't return, however, unexpectedly, in 2008 another Prince of Persia was released.

Prince of Persia. (2008). / Ubisoft.

Looking at the Prince, he seemed like a stranger to me. A new style to him, as well as a new voice, and a sarcastic personality. The game was said to follow the story from the last game, with references to a character at the beginning of the game, however it seemed very different to what a Prince of Persia game may have been. I always admired the artwork for this game; if ever you play this game, look into the distance, wherever you are, and it honestly is beautiful artwork and looks like a painting. At the end of the game, I honestly believed that it was the end of the Prince... it felt to me that it was the end but I was wrong.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. (2010) / Ubisoft

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands was an expected game for the series; when seeing the poster, it seemed that the Prince that we once knew was back. Wearing the same outfit from The Warrior Within, I was excited. When playing the game, I was even happier to know that the original voice for the Prince had returned, and with mentions of characters from the older games, made me even more happier. We get more of an insight into the Prince's life, and his family; such as the introduction to his brother Malik. The game was a surprise, but a great surprise and it was like an advanced version of the older games.

Eight years on, however, there is still no new Prince of Persia game, and at every event I seem to be waiting to hear that there is another game coming out. With Ubisoft releasing more of Assassins Creed, it seemed that the idea of Prince of Persia was done with.

However, it was only recently, that I was searching for another game, and it was a great start to 2018. The well-known Chrissy Teigen had tweeted talking about the Prince of Persia series, and whether it was still around, and to the advantage of every fan of the series, Jordan Mechner himself, replied.

The tweet made my day, and I hope that a new Prince of Persia comes out; with the return of the series, I can't wait for more of the story and the adventure of the Prince. The plot twists, the fighting, and the emotions. I hope to see it coming back soon.
