Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How to Get and Use Bottle Caps?
This article will tell you how to get these rare resources and effectively use them in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Though they may appear to be just ordinary litter, Bottle Caps are one of the most valuable items in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It also is an important resource for players to obtain and use for Hyper Training. This article will tell you how to get these rare resources and effectively use them in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
What are Bottle Caps, and what do you do with Bottle Caps?
In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Bottle Caps are an item you can buy to give to a specific character to boost your Pokemon's stats. This can be any stat, including HP, Attack, Defense, Special Defense, Special Attack, and Speed. After training, the stat you selected for your Pokemon will increase by one point.
How to Get regular Bottle Caps?
There are four ways to get regular Bottle Caps in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:
1. Buy from Delibird Presents shops
There are Delibird Presents shops in Mesagoza, Cascarrafa, and Levincia. They are all red and blue colored and look like a convenience store. Bring up the map in any of these towns and zoom in to search for a shopping bag symbol - this is Delibird Presents.
When browsing the shop itself, select 'General Goods' to see the menu to buy regular Bottle Caps. These cost 20,000 each. This might seem like a lot, but you can farm and sell valuable items in Scarlet and Violet for quick and easy money.
2. Buy from Auction House in Porto Marinada
Porto Marinda is the western coastal town in Western Province (Area 2). The same place you have to return Kofu's wallet to him as part of the Water Gym test.
The middle three auctioneers change what they're selling approximately every two in-game hours. So, you'll have to wait until one of them mentions they're selling Bottle Caps. Alternatively, you can go into your Switch's settings and manually change the time to force the auctions to change.
3. Get as reward from the Academy Ace Tournament
The Academy Ace Tournament is one of the many endgame activities you can participate in while playing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. You can also find Bottle Caps during the Academy Ace Tournament.
4. Get as a reward from 5-Star and 6-Star Raids
Bottle Caps can also be earned as rare rewards from 6-Star Tera Raid Battles. Though they are rare, you have a much higher chance of receiving one or even multiple Bottle Caps from 6-Star Raids. Special Event Raids of 5 stars or better also have an increased chance of rewarding you with Bottle Caps.
How to Use Bottle Caps?
To use the Bottle Caps, you'll need to make your way to Montenevra in Glaseado Mountains. Here, you'll find a Hyper Training Expert just behind the Pokemon Center (accompanied by an Abomasnow) that is more than happy to exchange Bottle Caps for upgrades to your Pokemon's stats.
How Hyper Training Works?
Hyper Training allows you to max out a Pokemon's IVs (Individual Values). Essentially these determine the Pokemon's six main stats: HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Attack, Sp. Def, and Speed. You can pay one Bottle Cap for each stat you would like to Hyper Train. You won't be able to Hyper Train stats with a little crown next to them—this means your Pokemon is already maxed out in that stat.
You'll receive the Judge function when you complete the Victory Road quest and defeat the Elite Four. This allows you to see the rating of your Pokemon's IV. "Best" means that stat is the highest it can be for that Pokemon. From Best to worst, it goes: Best, Fantastic, Very Good, Pretty Good, Decent, No Good.
Hyper Training raises the stat to the "Best" level. However, since this isn't the Pokemon's natural IV, it'll display it as "Hyper Trained." Unlike the Pokemon's original IVs, Hyper Trained stats are not passed down when Breeding.
