KINGDOM HEARTS IV: Opening Scene

The following takes place just before the Kingdom Hearts III epilogue.

MAIN MENU, NEW GAME…..

We see a black screen, & hear a lot of quotes from the series regarding the Black Box, Master of Masters, Luxu, etc…with an ominous soundtrack building up in intensity until…SILENCE.

*SMASH CUT* to a close-up of a desert wasteland in the very early morning.

We begin to pan across this close-up shot of the desert, & for the first few seconds, we might think this is yet again the Keyblade Graveyard, but it surely is not. We pan further out & begin to notice many HOLES that have been dug up over the years. The camera then focuses on one of these holes, & a young teenager inside said hole, wearing an orange jumpsuit & red baseball cap. This is Stanley Yelnats.

Stanley is serving a sentence at Camp Green Lake, in order to build character after being mistaken for a thief that stole a pair of tennis shoes. If this “bad boy” digs every day in the hot sun enough, it might turn him into a good boy. Stanley has snuck out on this early morning to get a head start on his hole, something the other "D-Tent" Boys and their superior Mr. Sir might be angry with later on if they find out.

After some hard effort in digging, Stanley leans against the wall of his hole to relax for a moment. He notices something peculiar as he does this, a hollow spot. Curious, he hits the hollow spot with his shovel, revealing a hidden treasure, the ever-so-mysterious Black Box. He looks at it in awe & wonder, smiling, as even the smallest of findings are greatly rewarded at Camp Green Lake. We hear Luxu’s (Xigbar’s) voice.

Luxu: “Well, well, well….would you look at that?”

Stanley yells out in fear.

Stanley: “Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah! Who the heck are you?!”

Luxu: “Relax, kid. I’m not the old coot that has it out for ya. I’m only here for that.”

Luxu points as Stanley looks at the Black Box….

Stanley: “What?…”

Luxu walks over to the hollow hole in the wall.

Luxu: “Figures. Of all the worlds, it ended up in this insignificant speck.”

Stanley: “Hey! Patchy the Pirate! I don’t know who you think you are, but I found that, fair & square, & I’m taking it back to camp!”

Luxu: “Huh. As if….It’s not like the Warden’ll reward you for it, anyway.”

Luxu reaches for the box.

Stanley: “Hey man, I’m serious! Back off! I’m cursed enough as it is!”

Luxu looks down in slight dismay at the Black Box & sighs.

Luxu: “You’re not the only one who’s cursed….”

Stanley: “Wh…what do you mean?”

Luxu: “It’s nothing. Look, I’d love to stay & “build character” with you & your little inmate buddies, but I’ve got a keyblade scheduled for pick-up, & some old friends of my own coming into town. So I’m just gonna take the box & be on my way.”

Stanley: “No, seriously dude! You can’t do that! I’ve worked too hard for this!”

Luxu turns to Stanley.

Luxu: “Don’t sweat it, kiddo! I’m sure your reward’s around the corner like Old-Spikey-Hair’s.”

Luxu turns back around & pulls the box towards himself.

Stanley: “Okay, Jolly Roger! I didn’t wanna have to do this, but that’s it! Let’s go!”

Stanley holds his shovel in attack position behind Luxu. Luxu, still looking at the box, sighs again in annoyance. Stanley attacks him with his shovel, but Luxu simply grabs the shovel with one hand, while not looking, & breaks it into pieces. Stanley looks in horror as Luxu bodies him, pushing him with darkness to the other side of the hole, & knocking him out. Luxu grabs the box & begins dragging it away.

Luxu: “Ahh, welp. Here we go,...one wasteland to another.....Chow for now, “Caveman”……”

He summons a corridor of darkness.

Luxu: “May your heart be your guiding key.”

Luxu exits the world through the corridor of darkness, whistling the tune of “If Only” , a song once sung by Stanley’s no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather.

*SMASH CUT* to a black screen with text as the whistle abruptly ends with a slight echoing fade….
