Is 'Fortnite' on the Downfall?

The Clash of Battle Royales

Is the all popular video game Fortnite on its downfall? Is Fortnite losing to other battle royale games? Ask any gamer who plays Fortnite these questions and nine out of ten times, you'll get a "no" as an answer. I am here to provide the truth on the matter.

After a little over a year from the release of Fortnite, the game has already seen many changes. The constant adding and taking away of weapons, vehicles, utilities, and traps, it's a no-brainer that this game is going down. As well as the multiple map changes, resource buffs, and nerfs, plus constant bug fixes and patches needed. This game is going nowhere... fast.

And now with the up-and-coming competition of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Fortniteseems to be losing its players fast. Even widely known YouTuber/Twitch streamer, Ninja, is deciding to switch over, as well as other famous YouTubers/Twitch streamers such as Daequon, Myth, and FaZe Tfue. As most people know, a video game's popularity now thrives on the famous people who play that said game title. And with this new game, among other battle royale titles, these YouTuber/Twitch streamers are going to have to conform to what their viewers want to watch. And of course, who wouldn't want to watch someone playing a new game? I for one love to check out new games without having to pay for them. It's a great avenue for me to see whether or not the game is worth purchasing.

Now back to its downfall, on October 24, Fortnite made ALL battle royale game modes also have AI (Artificial Intelligence) attack the players. For those players that aren't the best, who struggle with getting kills or building, they now have to worry about fighting off hordes of zombies too. Even myself, as an avid player, I want to stop playing this game until Epic Games—Fortnite's developer—decides to take these out, or at least make it a completely different game mode.

The Fortnitegame developers are seriously running out of ideas, and its clear. They are running out of ideas for weapons, map changes, game modes, and the worst of all, customizable player skins. For the past two seasons, they have been re-skinning the stock skins. Given that they have added a lot of different types of skins, most of them are simply re-skinned. This is honestly hurting its player base and the developers clearly don't care. It costs around 2,000 V-bucks—the in game currency—which translates to around $20. They are charging people $20 for re-skinned versions of the stock skin, and frankly, I think that's way too steep.

Again, this is just my insight on the game. Feel free to either agree or disagree. But most importantly, I hope I shed some light on the current situation Fortniteis in. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day or night.
