West Ham United beat Perth Glory in an exciting 6-2 triumph on Saturday at Optus Stadium to kick off their Australian trip.

Nearly 25,000 people watched the action unfold in Australia as David Moyes' team won both of their preseason games as they started to get ready for the next season.

Darryl Lachman, a defender for Glory, scored an own goal to open the scoring, followed by goals from Jarrod Bowen (2), Emerson (1), Divin Mubama (2), Gianluca Scamacca (3), and Jarrod Bowen (2).

Glory scored twice on their own, with to an unlucky Luizo own goal and goals from Daniel Bennie, but West Ham performed admirably to take the victory ahead of Tuesday's London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the same location.

For the first time in 28 years, West Ham played on an Australian field, and they made a strong first impression by taking the lead after only 70 seconds.

Following some nice passing between Danny Ings and Pablo Fornals, David Moyes' team sent the ball outside to Dan Chesters on the right.

Chesters saw that Emerson, a fellow wing-back, was moving toward the far post and tried to find the Italian with a low cross. Darryl Lachman, a defender, was able to stop the pass from reaching its intended recipient, but he was powerless to stop his own goal from being scored as a result of his intervention.

After Fornals shot wide of the post from outside the box after West Ham immediately put their opponents under pressure, the Spaniard played a key role in the move that resulted in the second goal after 20 minutes.

The No. 8 was permitted to sprint onto a deep through ball and appeared poised to score until defender John Koutroumbis shoved him over. Referee Alireza Faghani had to make a straightforward choice, and Scamacca finished the job with a calmly executed penalty.

Desite the two blows, Perth Glory rose to the occasion and started looking for ways to get back into the game.

With 22 minutes remaining, after being fed inside the box by Trent Ostler, their captain Adam Taggart missed a wonderful opportunity to restore parity by dragging wide of the goal.

Five minutes before halftime, the same player was denied by a quick stop by ukasz Fabiaski, who deflected the No. 1's forceful header after a cross from the right.

Scamacca had a chance to score the game's second goal when he intercepted an errant pass from the goalkeeper Oliver Sail, but he raised his shot just a hair too high.

The A-League team had the final say before halftime, scoring the goal their play deserved when Stefan Colakovski streaked down the right flank and whipped in a cross that the unfortunate Luizo could do nothing but deflect past Fabiaski as he attempted to intercept.

The second half began quickly, with both teams exchanging chances. Joel Anasmo of First Glory should have scored after a smooth move ended with Daniel Bennie crossing for his teammate, but Fabiaski saved him.

Then, a few seconds later, Fornals was given a clear path to goal by Flynn Downes' sharp pass, but Cameron Cook stopped him.

However, the Hammers did capitalize on their subsequent opportunity when Bowen darted to the near post and scored with a lovely flick in the 55th minute after Emerson sent a searching low ball into the box.

After 14 minutes, the pair teamed up once more, this time with devastating results as Bowen took the role of the provider and crossed perfectly for an unmarked Emerson to nod into the net's roof.

Following a quick passing move that left the Perth Glory player in space just inside the box, Bennie displayed real composure to place his shot beyond Joseph Anang's dive. Perth Glory did not let their guard down and soon after scored their second goal of the game.

Fornals struck the post as the Hammers searched for a fifth, and that goal did come nine minutes from time with a strike crafted in the Academy.

Chesters played a lovely one-two with Kamarai Swyer to reach the by-line and stand up a cross for Mubama to slam a header home.

The scoring was not done there either as Bowen completed a fine personal 45 minute display with the sixth, sweeping home after Aaron Cresswell got in down the left to cross low in the 86th minute.
