Draconius Go

The AR RPG you didn't know you wanted.

Draconius Go developed by Elyland.

Seeing as you are reading this, I want to say welcome to Elyland's world of Draconius Go: Catch a Dragon. An AR RPG similar in mechanics to Niantics hugely successful title Pokemon Go, the fundamental difference being the selection of creatures available. So far the developers at Elyland have designed 125 different pets to be caught, hatched, and/or evolved of their own and hope to see many more to come. One thing to note is that Niantic have filed a lawsuit against Elyland for copyright infringement, which although has been shown to be easily contested, does show that Niantic feel that Draconius Go is a real contender in the AR RPG series.

To get started Draconius Go has many different POIs (points of interest) to visit such as:

  • Pillars of abundance, which are comparable to pokestops for gathering items.
  • Arenas, obviously similar to gyms.
  • Libraries which, whilst defended, reduce a count down to be able to retrain one of your pet's attack moves. Once a move has been retrained you will have to wait three days to have access to these libraries again.
  • Obelisks that give out quests, such as following a path of pillars of abundance and battling monsters in arenas. They also give nine map fragments which reveal an area with nine spots to search for a golden egg. These hunts last for three or four days before expiring and having to be started again.
  • Portals that take you "into the rift" to possibly leave an ancient egg with a mother of dragons to hatch. These move around from time to time but I am yet to figure out any time scale if there is one.

A nice bonus is a magical chest that appears every now and then which can be opened to receive items. Another bonus feature is magic.

To use magic you need to gather spell recipes and runes Via winning duels or fights with wild creatures and opening chests. You would then create an alter at which to cast the spell where you are standing in the map.

The spells I know of so far are:

  • Gift of the Golden Dragon (doubles XP rewards from pillars of abundance for 30 minutes)
  • Field of Abundance (creates a field of pillars of abundance)
  • Blessing for Defence (nearest allied arena will safe from enemy attacks for the next 30 hours)

As you can see, these spells can all come in very handy at times and I am sure there are many more to discover that shall help along with adventures.

Creature element effectivity diagram.

There are five different types of monsters in Draconius Go. These are fire, water, wind, grass, and crystal.

As shown in the diagram each element is more effective against another element.

  • Water types are stronger against fire, then:
  • Fire against grass, grass against crystal, crystal against wind and finally wind against water.
  • Each element type also appear to be less effective against other elements.
  • Water is weak against crystal, then:
  • Crystal against fire, fire against wind, wind against grass and finally grass against water.

Just like in Pokémon Go, there are eggs that have to be walked to be hatched. But as well as that, there are ancient eggs that need to be given to a mother of dragons to be hatched over a period of time instead of distance. I am yet to hatch an ancient egg to see if they give special monsters or not.

About the Creator

L.R

I mostly find myself here to release creative flair, but also like to pass on what knowledge I can, so the odd tutorial and/or guide worms it's way to the forefront of my mind along the way =)
