Dank Cave Directions

#NeoQuest I

The first time I entered Dank Cave, I was completely lost. There are paths that make no sense, dead ends everywhere, and, worst of all, there is no hidden treasure to find throughout. Which is why I decided to make this walkthrough. An easy peasy guide with directions and even earnings of dead ends. You never again need to aimlessly wander the empty cave now that you have this walkthrough. Although, it's not a bad idea to level up first! This quest takes a long time and the monsters just keep getting stronger and stronger at every level.

Getting to Dank Cave

I really want to take a moment to appreciate the name "Dank Cave," I wish the Neopets world used it more.

Dank Cave is very close to Neopia City. Just head left until you see the Hills of Jub, then head a bit up. It's in the middle of "Hills of Jub."

While in the Dank Cave:

Make sure that during your quest to collect:

  • Four tiny obsidians
  • Two of every other gems
  • Rotted cloth
  • A piece of glass

You will need all these items for later. You can only get the last two items from Skeleton guards... and it might take a while. However, the good news is that this is a good opportunity to level up!

When First Entering the Cave

Head down until you see a small passage on your right. Then, keep going directly right for a while, you will pass a big area, then go back into another small passage (second small passage shown in photos below).

Level One and Level Two of Dank Cave

Past the pool of water.

Keep going right until the path turns down. There won't be many other splits in the path, so just keep going.

Just a little more to get to the second level.

Past the water, keep going left. You will pass a bunch of turns, but keep going left until the you reach the photo below.

Almost there!

Now it's just Level Two of the map...

You did it! But now there is still another map

This one will save you some time

There is nothing down there. Trust me, I tried.

Towards the temple

Making progress!

Don't worry, I have your back.

Again, there is absolutely nothing over there. Literally nothing!

There are pillars leading up to a... classroom.

Well a classroom really is a place of nightmares, so...

Rikti can be easy to pass by.

Rikti doesn't actually help progress the game by much, but he tells you that he is trapped and there is an evil wizard named Xantan who lives at the bottom of the dungeon. He also tells you about Swamp Edge City that is Southwest from Dank Cave. You can go there and visit Rikti's brother, but the truth is that you don't really go to Swamp Edge City until later in the game.

Talking to Rikti is optional, it is mostly just plot based.

Down the Hallway

Keep going for a while...

Just keep going up for a while...

It's actually really long, just keep going up and up and up...

Next Level!

Level Three and Level Four

Xantan The Foul

"He used to be the leader of the Council of Twelve, however he was overthrown by Jahbal, and now spends his time at the bottom of the Dank Cave. Nobody knows how he got there, or why he is there."—NeoQuest

  • Xantan is the first boss you encounter in NeoQuest.
  • He is capable of hitting 20 with Ice and Fire blasts, so try to be at level 10 when you face him.
  • You need to defeat him for "Xantan's Ring."
  • Only found in Xantan's Lair in Level Four of the Dank Cave.

You did it! Congratulations!

The Dank caves is a really large and overly complicated maze, which is exactly why I felt like it needed a step by step over-simplified directions like these. I hope this helps. Happy Questing!

Hello. Nice to meet you! How are you? Hmm... this feels like a really one-sided conversation... why don't you follow me on social media so I can get to know you too!
