What is Wordle?
Wordle is a word game designed by a man for his word-game loving girlfriend, has become very popular and is widely talked about on social media. The game became so popular, that The New York Times recently bought and became the owners of this game. It features one 5 letter word that the player has 6 tries to guess. Gray squares mean the letter is not in the daily word, yellow means it is in the word (but not the right spot), and green means that the particular letter is in the word and in the correct spot.
It is pretty self-explanatory, and the instructions are pretty simple if you'd like to give the hit game a try: nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html
Because of its popularity, many other game designers have started coming up with their own versions of Wordle. Here is a list of a lot of these newly released games.
1. Quordle
Quordle is essentially the same thing as Wordle, except there are 4 different words. Each word that you play goes to all four quadrants, and you get nine tries to get all four words.
This version is extremely difficult, as it is hard to strategize in a way that accommodates all 4 words.
2. Dordle
Dordle is a less complicated version of Quordle. This one has two puzzles instead of four but otherwise is the same exact thing.
3. Worldle
Worldle is a game that, instead of guessing a word, has the player guessing a territory or country. After typing in a guess, the game will tell you how close are far away that guess was from the right answer, and in which direction on the map the player needs to move in order to find the correct answer.
This game is great for geography experts. If not, looking up a map might come in handy for this one.
4. Lewdle
Lewdle is similar to Wordle, except the answers are lewd. This game only takes lewd words as guesses. Otherwise, it is the same exact thing as Wordle.
5. Letterle
Letterle is Wordle without the word. In this game, a random letter in the alphabet is chosen and it is the player's job to guess the letter. The game doesn't tell the player if they are close, but it does give players unlimited guesses.
6. Taylordle
Taylordle is the exact same thing as Wordle, except this version has a theme dedicated to Taylor Swift. This means that all of the answers are somehow related to Taylor Swift.
7. Nerdle
If you're more of a numbers person than a words person, then Nerdle is the right version of Wordle for you! This game requires you to find the hidden equation. It offers six tries for an 8 digit equation.
8. Primel
If you're a numbers person but do not like the look of Nerdle, Primel is another number-themed Wordle variant! This version requires the player to find a 5 digit prime number in six tries.
9. Star Wordle
Star Wordle is the same exact thing as the original, except it is Star Wars themed! This means that all answers will be in reference to the Star Wars franchise.
10. Subwaydle
If you're familiar with the New York subway system, then Subwaydle is the game for you. There are quite a few rules about backtracking and transfers, and the main goal is to guess the trip of the day by the subway markings. To someone who doesn't use public transportation or isn't from New York, this version seems to be very difficult.
Those are just 10 of many Wordle variants that exist across the internet.
