How Is It Done?

For hair transplantation, doctors use small or larger grafts which the experts cut into small pieces. They will then implant these grafts in the desired location on the head. The removed grafts often have different sizes, shapes and numbers. Spot grafts typically contain 10 to 15 hair follicles and can get to 1 or 2 in numbers. Incisional grafts contain 4 to 10 hair follicles which your dermatologist implants into the split ends of the head. The tape grafts, which are narrow and long, contain 30 to 40 hair follicles after they are cut.

In general, depending on the treatment method, several sessions may be required to achieve the desired result. The number of grafts required per session varies from person to person but on average, each candidate requires 50 grafts for large grafts and about 700 grafts for small grafts. Our doctors in Medpaltrip will provide the necessary advice at all stages.

What Is Hair Transplant or Hair Implantation?

It is a fact that hair has a great impact on beauty. For this reason, the popularity of hair transplants is growing day by day. Hair transplantation is a cosmetic procedure as well as a treatment for hair loss. In Iran, it is done in various ways. The basis of all hair transplantation methods is removing hair from the donation area and implanting it back in the hairless area.

Hair loss can be due to:

  • The pattern of male pattern baldness called androgenic alopecia (the most common cause);
  • Inflammatory diseases of the scalp;
  • Head injuries; such as burns, surgeries and car accidents that can create areas with permanent baldness on your head.

Although not as effective as hair transplant, there are other methods to improve hair density:

Minoxidil

This is a common solution used for both men and women. The results appear after a few months of usage but minoxidil does not guarantee hair growth.

LLLT (low-level light therapy)

Laser therapy is used in this method. There is evidence that LLLT enhances hair growth; but it is not fruitful for everyone.

Various Methods of Hair Transplant in Iran

SUT hair transplantation

As previously mentioned, there are different methods for hair transplantation. Some of them are:

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation)

This is one of the oldest methods of hair transplantation also known as strip hair transplantation. In this procedure, the physician removes a thin strip of your scalp containing hair follicles from the donation site and, after dividing it into smaller sections, implants them in the desired areas. Here, the number of displaced follicles is high, it is faster than other methods and is less expensive. Due to the type of hair follicles removed in this method, the wound from the donation site is visible after the operation, which of course will be covered under the hair at the implant site.

FIT Hair Transplant (Follicular Isolation Technique)

This method is known as FUE (Follicular unit extraction) worldwide which means the extraction of follicular units. In FUE, as the name implies, the doctor removes hair follicles as granules or units and then implants them again.

This technic requires a highly skilled doctor. At Medpaltrip, we provide such physicians for your services. The recovery period of this method is shorter than the FUT method, however, it takes longer to perform. Most doctors and candidates currently prefer this method over FUT.

SUT Hair Transplantation

In this method, which is based on the FIT hair transplantation method, the dermatologist uses automatic devices to remove and transplant hair follicles individually or in a single unit. SUT is faster than FIT and is less damaging to the displaced follicles.

BHT Hair Transplant

BHT is also based on the FIT method, with the difference being that instead of using the hair reserve on the back of the head, the doctor uses other parts of the body such as the beard, back and chest. This method is useful for people who do not have a proper hair bank on the back of their head.
