Things Interviewers Do Not Know

The True Story

People who are currently looking for employment are having it tough. Currently, a majority of the jobs that are out there do not have benefits, low pay, or are contract jobs. It is the employer's market. Unfortunately for the people who are looking there is no mercy.

Right now there are many people looking to get a new job, because of low pay, or they want to move on. Some have even just graduated from college, and ready to start their new career. Truth: Most of the people you see bagging groceries, working at a front desk somewhere, or doing sercurity have all graduated college. Even custodians. People are trying to stay afloat, and be able to put food on the table, pay their rent (which is becoming harder and harder), and just afford to live. OMG!!!! Grocery shopping has gone three times more since last year.

Let's do that math what is really out there. In the Boston area working in a professional job start off pay is anywhere from $40,000-$45,000.00. That individual is making anywhere from $18-$22 an hour. Most likely the check they take home is maybe $1100 every two weeks. This brings their monthly pay to $2200 a month. Rent is anywhere from $1800 to $2800 a month. For this article we will take the $1800 a month subtract from $2200 brings the remaining balance to $400.00. Now let's add utilities, phone bill, and food. Wait!!!!! What about transportation even the train monthly cost $90.00. How can anyone survive?

OK. Back to the purpose of this article. The people being interviewed have stories to tell. They are coming in to make money, because they might be losing their home, they do not have any family, or they might even be getting a divorce. Some of these people might have lost someone. When they interivew they are giving their heart, and soul to the job they are interviewing for. All of the people right now who are out there looking for work are struggling. They need to be heard.

However, many recruiters, human resource, and other hiring agencies either waste their time, or ghost them. They even sometimes give people's hopes up, and do not return their emails. Honestly, I think the way people are being treated in the job market is horrific. I would rather a person not interview me, and save the time then to interview me, and not get back to me.

I know people who are interviewing for one company three times. Who has that kind of time? Especially if you are interviewing while working. You have to take time off from your current job to interview.Either you want someone or do not. Stop putting people through this. I know someone personally that is ready to break that graduated college. They are on their last nerve.

I would like people who read this that might know someone, or are someone who interviews to think about what is written in this article before you waste someone's time. Think about where that individual is coming from. I know the old saying, it is a cut throat world out there. But come these people deserve a break. People who graduate from reputable college deserve better than this. Everyone out there deserves to be listened to, and treated with respect. Just imagine how you would feel after 30 interviews either being ghosted, or once again hearing no.

Another thing I noticed some companies that say they are hiring, are not. I am not sure exactly how this works. Do they put a job post up, because they were told to? Or were they once looking, and then decided not to?

There should be work for everyone. No one wants to be unemployed.
